Weekender Thread 09-12 November 2018

Hi There!

I'd like to welcome anyone new to SR and new to this thread.

Weekends can be a tough time, and that's what this thread is about - support.

We also share bits and pieces of our lives and the things that are important to us, or make us laugh..anything that makes the journey a little easier

If you've never jumped into a weekender thread before - no time like today...do it now!

D

Feel like I’ve reached the big time now.
Thanks for the new thread Dee

One more work day and a 3 day weekend! Plan on a road trip to portland, some volunteer work on trails. And hopefully some lazy time with a good book.

Stay sober my friends

Thanks D.
I'm in for the weekend.

Kev I hope you do all that is necessary to remain sober. If you are feeling what you are feeling maybe it's time to add or change something to/in your plan (routine) Why not a new sponsor if that helps. Something new maybe, yoga, massage.. .
Can you not just consult with your GP... ?

Those thoughts in your head remember you control them and they don't control you.

Morning all

Friday night I’m invited for dinner at my dad’s and he’s a heavy drinker. I don’t feel like cancelling but I have to stick close to this place. Having a new sponsor might also help.
Hang in there, kevlarsjal! Things do get weird at times, do what you gotta do to stay sober. Be like those mountain goats who stay careful and know to pick their footing just right.

Friday evening- 1900. A very heavy week, but the weekend here- a breather. Feeling a bit flat- will need to motivate later (to use the remote)

Good morning everyone.

Staying proactive seems to make such a key difference kev. You’re doing that in great form. What a good example.

A bit of fun as heading off soon for a long autumn weekend in the mountains. Have rented a wonderful cottage with a view. I have a date on the back deck with a cuppa or two. I also seem to be craving turkey leg!

Wishing all the best day. Gym time for now.

Friday night here. A quiet night at home. My SO is having a few beers after a tough week. I’m not. Good old water. And not even feeling like any temptation tonight which is a nice change after the last couple of weeks I must say
I’m off to bed soon, night everyone

I'm glad you're not tempted, Willow.

I have really come to love the taste of clear, cold water.

Have a great and restful sleep!

Good morning, Thanks for the new thread Dee. Cold day today here in the 'peg. Remeberance day on Sunday, and a long weekend for me.

Hey Kev, I remember back in July or August, a few months before my two year soberversary, I had a bout of drinking thoughts. It lasted a few days and in the end I chalked it up to improper hydration. Seems once I drank a proper amount of water the AV shutup.

I think I need in on this. I’m only on day 2. My husband and I like to go out to dinner on weekends, and we always split a bottle of wine. Naturally, it doesn’t stop (or begin) there for me. So I’ll be having tea instead.

I hope I’m not cranky all weekend. I shouldve started this on a Monday so I’d have a few days to adjust by the weekend. But if I had decided to wait until next Monday to quit drinking, there’s a good chance it just wouldn’t happen.
