Nightly Nightmares - Can't rest!

Hello all,

First of all, I want to say that I'm grateful for hitting my third week sober.

Being that said, I have been experiencing some weird nightmares on a daily basis. Now, I'm not 100% sure this is related to alcohol, but it still makes my night pretty hard.

Facts:

1. I have been sober before for months, and honestly, I've never experienced these weird nightmares so long after my last drink.

2. I'm a heavy smoker (one pack a day) and drink around 3 coffee's a day. (For a long time).

3. I'm medicated with Paroxetine and Xanax, however, no change in dosage has been made like... well for a long time.

Anyone has any ideas, or maybe experienced something similar?

Great Wednesday for everyone!

Thanks.

Benzos taken late in the day really mess with my sleep. Weird and constant dreams. I’m off them and am sleeping pretty well.

Actually I just take a low dose in the morning, and that's it.

I am in an IOP right now and they forbid the use of benzos during treatment. So it’s moot for me now.

I had some bad nightmares when I first got sober. I can't remember how long they lasted but they did go away. Have you tried exercise? Maybe wearing yourself out some may help.
