Physical symptoms

I expected the anxiety and some depression and some insomnia when I stopped drinking. But I did not expect the physical ones.

Talking with my doctor today, she doesn’t think that’s what’s going on. Rather, she says the physical symptoms I have are right in line with the side effects of Cipro, which I coincidentally started taking on Day 1. Fortunately, I have finished the Cipro, and hopefully the nausea, headache, and bathroom issues will go away.

And speaking of physical symptoms, (TMI) anybody here have blood in your urine when still drinking?

Min,

I had some blood in my urine and stool. It got better when I stopped drinking. However, your Dr. should answer your question. Med advice is not allowed on sr.

The booze is poison. The crave is for life.

I haven't been drunk in nearly 4 years and I understand a bit about sobriety on my own. I take no meds and I dont do aa directly.

Sr is my addiction therapy.

Addiction can be looked at scientifically. My body and mind were basted for decades in booze. I am not going to be normal for a few years. But, I am so much better than before. It is progressing well.

But, as an addict for life, when things are going good the first thing I want to do is drink.

I call being sober growing up.

Thanks.

I did not have blood in my urine. But the alcohol wrecked havoc on my hormones (I’m going through menopause) and I had heavier bleeding from those issues. I understand a lot of the symptoms from heavy drinking do lessen and some go away completely with abstinence. Just keep your dr in the loop

I hope you ran that last one past your Dr cos, without wanting to alarm you, blood in urine or faeces is not normal in any sense of the word.

Not looking for medical advice, just wondering about common experiences. And yes, I am in touch with my doctor and she ordered lab work and a CT to figure out the blood in urine.

I found that alcohol affected every part of my body. I can't think of one it didn't. I was very sick when I quit, as I've shared often around here, and I thought of it as the effects of my severe alcoholism rolling out of my body from head to toe.

It would have been tough for me to distinguish all that from side effects of any meds til I healed a good bit- by that I mean 90-100 days. Over the first year, I got better and better and developed what is my normal baseline for a pretty darn healthy now 42 year old (I was 39 1/2 when I quit and am 2 yr going on 9 mo sober this month).

It takes time and I wish you the best, and continued care under your dr.

Cipro doesn't agree with me when I take it, and I'm glad that you brought it to your doctor's attention.

Wow, CT results in about 24 hours! Mystery solved: kidney stone.

Done with the Cipro, thank goodness.
