6 months today!!!
6 months ago, I was pacing a sidewalk, clutching an empty wine bottle, fighting with every fiber of my being to stop myself from walking back into that liquor store and buying another one. I hated the endless cycle of uncontrollable drinking, I hated my life, and I hated myself. I'd been trying to control and enjoy my drinking for years, and I realized I'd never be able to. The next morning, I walked into the doors of AA, and I never turned back.
If I told you the last 6 months had been easy, I'd be lying. I have had rough days and many rough nights. I've been close to a drink- I went to a gas station, picked up a bottle of wine, and immediately gained my sanity and put it back down.
I have learned that there is a solution. There is a way to be happy, joyous, and free, and for me that means sobriety and working a program. I have things to look forward to: I have steps to work and a sponsor to meet with. Someday I hope to sponsor others and maybe even share my experience, strength and hope with others. I'm developing a relationship with a higher power.
I may not be there yet, and I may still struggle with those cravings- a lot. But I know this is a better way of life, and I'm so grateful for that day on the sidewalk 6 months ago. It brought me here. Thank you to all for your support and hope.

There's a healthier solutions for all our
daily problems and nothing is too hard
for us to solve that requires drinking or
numbing ourselves with a controlling
substance, putting us right back into a
spiraling out of control way of life.
Many of us have walked thru the doors
of recovery and have never looked back
or have had our addiction refunded back
to us.
Facing life situations on a daily bases with
a guideline of recovery continuously to follow,
helping each of us build a strong solid foundation
to live upon has been a blessing and gift none
of us ever take for granted.
Stick with your program and never let
go of your recovery life lines each day
to insure success in life moving forward.

Amazing, congratulations! I could have written your post. I am just 6 months as well and I too have had some rough days and nearly picked up but as you say there IS a solution and as long as we keep working our programme ONE DAY AT A TIME, we don't ever have to pick up a drink and go back to that hell hole ever again and yes be joyous happy and free!
