Looking for support

I really want to get support to deal with my alcohol addiction.

Welcome, Downnotout. We're here to encourage you as you seek sobriety.

I drank many years. Finding SR was the turning point for me - I knew I'd never have to feel alone again. People in my life just didn't understand what I was going through, & there was no way I could explain it. I hope you'll find the support you're looking for.

We'll be your support here. You'll find a lot of caring people and we've been through the same things you have. I needed support, too, so I came here. It's been a life saver.
Just remember, you never have to drink again.
Feel free to post away.

Great first step. Big time.

Getting out of denial is essential to getting sober. It gets so much better from there....

Great place. Educate yourself. Lots of support.

Well here is my day three back to the good life. Im feeling a whole lot better about myself and i am going to slow my life down to the point of where it is manageable for me. I am only going to concern myself with me until i am strong again. I cannot help anybody else until i help myself, and for now hopefully some of my family and friends get some strength from what i am trying to do. That's all i can offer for now.

I had to make other changes in my life, too, to try to get back on the track to living without alcohol. I couldn't continue doing some things that were even important to me, like my old career, and be able to transition into active recovery again. Letting go of those things has been concurrently difficult and liberating.

Well I returned to the gym today and it felt so good after my workout. I should explain that i have been trying for last two months to give up the bottle, and except for a few hiccups in that period...I was doing good. But I knew i had to become a part of the SR family to really take me over the top and i am living life one day at a time. I finally grasped that saying and i will be utilizing every source of support i have to keep me moving forward.

Good for you downnotout :)
