Strong craving yesterday

I am at day 60 and had a reeeeaaally strong craving for a long island ice tea. Played the tape through, drove PAST the gas station and went directly home and ate dinner. For some reason eating helps the cravings.
It's a beautiful morning. Thank God I am not feeling that guilt.
Have a blessed day!

Yes they always mention HALT hungry angry lonely and tired as triggers. Early on, I ate a lot of ice cream and I do not like sweets. I was craving all of the sugar in beer. playing the tape works for me too. that one drink evolves into 4 or 5. congrats and good luck

Good job! You regained control of feeling helpless and instead empowered yourself by replacing that helpless feeling (emotions) with a more healthy activity (going home and having a meal). What we really seek is a sense of control. What we really seek is not a drink, a drug, porn or a bet, but a sense of empowerment, especially in the face of feeling overwhelmed, helpless, trapped and powerless. Exactly how we choose to empower ourselves and regain control of our emotions (feelings), our life, is what needs to be discerned, understood and then managed.

Yes, HALT is a life saver. Had a similar scenario the other night where eating helped. Congratulations on 60 days!

Glad you made it thru the craving and came out sober. It will get to the point where you don't have cravings anymore if you stay sober.
