Weekender Thread 12-15 October 2018
Evening everyone.
I have been reading everyday but not posting much, perhaps because I’m really a bit stressed out at work. The workload is immense and the pressure relentless. Although I don’t mind reading posts that speak of dejection at all, somehow it feels a bit awkward having a go at it myself... Well, at least I am facing all of this sober, although I must admit at times I felt like numbing myself.
Enjoy your trip Vman, and I hope everyone who feels a bit under the weather will soon be up and about.
I am off to a Greek restaurant with Mrs Haddock, my parents and a school friend who is visiting from Switzerland. We have known eachother since we were 7 years old, which adds up to a friendship of 38 years. Count your blessings, Captain!

Thank you for asking, Vinny.
Still blah.
One of the biggest challenges for me is that my neighbourhood is literally booby-trapped with hurtful memories, and I as much as I like going for a walk once I venture out I usually end up depressed and sad.
I wish I could dig a tunnel from my apartment to the gym.
Yeah, I know it's all in my head.
But I've heard from a few quite successful people that relocation in more beneficial environment was a crucial factor.
Now I have to figure out how to do that.
Not an easy task at all.

That’s a tough one MB. I wish it weren’t such a task for you to relocate. The personal appeal my surroundings hold for me has a marked effect on my mindset. I hope something works out for you.
Enjoy dinner out Captain.

Ah! It was was boring old work stuff so not my money.
Captain i'm sorry to hear you're having a hard time at work, I completely understand. I am having problems getting enough work right now which is also sttessful. If you have done your best then you have nothing to reproach yourself for. A Greek restaurant with friends should give you a lift.

Thanks, we had a good time.
And guess what, I get asked what I’d been up to cause I lost some weight and look a lot healthier than when we last met 6 months ago! Told him straight I quit drinking and it’s as simple as that.
Midnight, I hope you find a workable solution. Best to you.
Good night everyone!

Cap't, amazing to meet up with a friend you're known all your life! And visiting from Switzerland … wowie! That's really great.
VMan, your post cracked me up: Bon appétit Cap'n. Greek there has to be feta and olives there somewhere... hilarious! Hope your trip is great.
Sao, good luck at work. Stressful time for me, too, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel … I'm thinking of you!
MB, you seem like an adventurer to me. I think you'll find the perfect relocation solution. I know you're having a tough time, and I wish there was something I could do besides just type my caring thoughts! Hang in there, and look for the next great place!
Hi Manta! Hi Dee! Snowy day in Vermont, ugh. Too early. But whatever, right?

Vermont in the snow sounds very picturesque zoeydog...and much colder than I’m accustomed.
Our spoiled little westie dog is named zoey.
Catching up with the Europeans as now my workday is wrapped up. Patio and cup of tea time.

Ugh. I made a cup of tea about three hours ago and forgot about it. It's still on the counter steeping. Oh well.
I'm not getting much done at work this week with this illness. And I'm not stressing about it. Hey, they are lucky I showed up at all!
