Told by my doctor I have to give up completely. Got drunk for the last time.
Thanks for all the messages of support. I didn't really have any idea I was in danger of cirrhosis. I have seen people who are yellow in AA meetings and a couple vanished. That has always been my worst fear. Day 1 is going well. My doctor is checking me out again in 2 days. I don't want him to give up helping me and I am not giving up on myself. Drinking yesterday was stupid but showed me I am not missing out on anything. Thanks again everyone.

I hope that you stay grounded SC. That you hold yourself and only yourself accountable for where you find yourself. That you detach from the things you can't control and focus on the things you can. Your body can recover if you let it. The quitting drinking, it is a choice. If not? Then what is it? Getting help is also a choice and there is lots out there if you reach for it.
Dying an alcoholic death is messy and awful. It sounds like you still have a choice. I hope you make the right one. Its hard. For sure. And, if you're like me, you will be miserable at times. But the idea that drinking will help any of that misery is a complete lie. Believe that before its too late.
I'll never stop rooting for you SC. You can do this. If you want it.

Day 2 is a good place to be, the days will start to add up, just make sure you have some tools in place for recovery. Meetings will he,p, log on here, try to get outside for a bit today, go for a walk, nature always helps ground me.
I know you've tried before, and the fact that you keep coming back shows that you really want this. You can do it, if the thought of drinking pops into your head get to a meeting or log on here. Also, make sure there is no alcohol in your house, even empty bottles may trigger you, spend a little time today getting rid of all of that.
Hope you can get some sleep Sweeti.
