I'm glad you're sticking around Zoeydog.

I had to stop giving myself permission to drink - if I was really honest and thought about it my drinking never led me to anywhere good.

guys I took out Trachs surname cos I'm not aware he's shared that publicly.

from rule 3
Revealing personal information, including e-mail addresses, about other members that would identify them in the real world and which they have not otherwise made public online.
If anyone can direct me to a public post he made with that info, I'll think about putting it back - otherwise, a little PMing will get you the info you need

D I know he shared his first name, Dale, publicly even here on the weekender. I don't believe he meant to share his surname.

Morning all. It's off to work (a little late) traffic is going to be a nightmare.

Morning all.

I need to make a note of Trach's rehab address myself and get a postcard sent I know it'll be international mail, but we're all in this battle together, regardless of where we are from.

Looking forward to tonight, I'm off to a play for the first time in years. Tynesider at the Theatre, could be a television programme!

Morning/day/night, weekenders.

I slept about 15 hours, having coffee and keep watching comedies.

Some weird kind of life I am having)

Have a great sober week, everyone!

Really glad you decided to stay zoeydog! I got 30 days sober in May and relapsed for a week, SR and all the lovely peeps here really helped me get back in the sober bus and are now helping me stay on it! Don’t be hard on yourself, dust yourself off and climb back aboard xx

Another sober weekend in the books. Nothing bad happened! I didn't do anything dumb! I haven't done anything of which I need to be embarrassed in over four years.

This thread will continue on through the week, I hope everyone makes it to Friday without a drink. One day at a time works. If you go to bed sober tonight, you've done it right.

Drank yesterday while out watching football. Day 1 again.

The craving I got was intense. I know the setting was a major part of the issue. Going to avoid that for now.

Ugh.

The only way to make cravings go away is to starve them.

It gets easier, mns1 - but not at first. I hope you find your way out. It is SO worth the few weeks of urge denial.

I kept telling myself, "Uh huh. But I don't drink, no matter what."

Thanks biminiblue. I need to take Dee’s advice and deny myself permission to drink, no matter what. I think I’m going to start looking at drinking as an immoral action, against my principles. I’m the type of guy who has strong morals and sticks to my gut no matter what other people say. I think if I frame drinking the same way, it will help me deny the urges.

Sorry to hear that, Mike.

There are certain activities which act as huge triggers and hard to deal with in early sobriety.

I'd recommend to get a solid plan around these activities, especially those like watching football when drinking alcohol is perceived as almost intrinsic part of the fun.

Learn from your mistakes and move on.

I've just got a post card and stamps to send the card to Trach.

Would some of weekenders will be so kind as to send me a PM with his surname because I am not sure that just the name will be enough to get it to him. I would really appreciate it. I can't wait to write to Trach.

It's a beautiful day here and I still can't wrap my head around my newly gained freedom. Just now I realize how miserable I was at my job.

Morning Gang, (adult) Kids had a couple last last night at the in-laws and were rather boisteros in the back seat coming home. They hardley ever drink so we can let it go, but boy, talk about annoying!

Good morning all, finally did some catching up here.

Don't you dare leave us Zoey!! nope nope not acceptable. Like Bim said the only way to kill the AV is to starve it.

Mns you will find that there is something incredibly satisfying to deny the AV as you walk past the booze aisle.

Switching to swing shift, so trying to get my sleep pattern figured out, my dogs however seem to have other plans for me,,,,

Thanks Badger … I'm still here. Newly committed, again. Hoping for another 40 days, and instead of slipping, just pushing through another 40 and another 40 after that!

Good luck Mike, Gilmer, tekink, ST, MB, Bimini (and you're right, it does get easier. I have to keep reminding myself of that!), Sao, Manta, Dee, Tyne, Vman, Petals, and everyone else who I'm hanging onto right now!

Have a sober Monday!

Evening everyone.

The everything at work must be done before the end of the year-rush is in full swing. On top of that it has been one of those Mondays that makes me wish I was retiring tomorrow! Dragon, I think I should seriously consider getting myself a ukulele.

End of rant. Decent health and being sober and part of this community count for a lot.

A big shout out and support to each and everyone of you. Keep up the good fight, zoeydog and Mike!

Well done for posting mns1, you will not have to skip things like football forever, these things get easier with time as your mind gradually alters and perceives not drinking as normal.

Twenty to Seven in the evening and still at work, I actually got my hands dirty helping out today. Outrage. The boss ordered Pizzas for everyone which is nice and saves cooking at home but it's no good for my diet.
