Coffee is a wonderful thing, especially after a crappy night of sleep.

Zoey I thought Venom was awesome!

God created the earth, so coffee could grow on it and humans could drink it. What do you think god did on his da of rest? Certainly did not go to church- nope- he went to a coffee shop.
Celestial bean flavor.

Naah, Phoenix.

I think the god's alter ego created coffee, pretty much as anything which is hell tempting and requires moderation.

Morning all. I get some repreive from sister-in-law and familys thanks giving 'celebrations' in that Daughter dragon is working again today. So I get to leave for awhile and pickup dear daughter from work. It's not that I find it hard to be around drinkers, but I don't like watching some of them guzzle one after another after another after another. Reminds me of myself plus I worry about the youngest dad. I wish I could impart the wizdom it took me until my 50's to learn.

If sober Saturday morning never gets old then sober Sunday is the dividend paid by sober Saturday.

It works that way.

Zoey, please don't leave. As a matter of fact I would suggest typing out the entire drinking event that you just had. Doesn't have to be here or anywhere other than for yourself. I encourage you to delve into it deeply. It was good for me to purge a lot of negative stuff when I quit. I journalled and I posted on this site - a lot.

What were you allowing yourself to dwell on just before you drank?

What did you say to yourself to rationalize it/justify it? I mean, once I made a decision to never drink again having a drink is a straight-up betrayal of my own promise to myself. I'm strongly committed to seeing that through. I've done enough self-sabotage to last me a lifetime!

I was done when I stopped. Nothing left back there for me to learn from alcohol. There is an imaginary four inch thick piece of plexiglass between my fingers and any alcohol.

That's the only way to keep me safe.

zoey, I am glad you are back and please don’t leave. I have often managed to stop at two and often just one drink but, even if it took a few months, in the end it always lead me back to drinking every day.

Thanks bimini, your clip also reminded me of the old saying “don’t tease the beast”!

On my second cup now. It's raining this morning and the weather has finally cooled down into the enjoyable zone. It was a hot summer in the desert this year, over 120 days with 100+ temps.

Hello weekenders.

Coffee done, workout done, lunch done. I reserve the right for an afternoon cuppa whilst pretending itís cool outside.

Kudos to everyone for being here. A special shout out to Zoey for sticking around. I remember a turning point in my early sobriety when I recognized that I couldnít trust my perspective in regards to alcohol, that Iíd need to lean on and trust the guidance of others that had been where I was, that absolutely knew the game....even when my mind was screaming otherwise. Shifting trust from my own flawed perspective, along with the application of methods to get through my cravings, built for me a ladder. Each day was another rung on the ladder. I was so deep in the pit that nothing seemed to change for a while. Then light. Finally.

The help given here on weekenders is powerful. Itís here I learned to lean on others.

I hope the rest of the day/night goes well for everyone!

That was the intention.

Every bit as creepy? The beast of an AV that says, "Sure. C'mon. I'm just saying...one...there ya go. Was that so bad?" Predator in my head.

FWIW, I've seen a silverback do that exact same charge at the glass at my local zoo. We actually do have four inch thick glass between us. I don't know what that "zoo" in the video is thinking with glass that thin...and did you see the fences in the back of that enclosure? Even I could hop over that.

The huge male who charged the glass at our zoo: a fairly large man was standing close to the glass and taunting the gorilla, just like this little girl in the video. The gorilla was pretty chill about it until one of his females walked between this man and the male gorilla. That did not go over well, and the gorilla charged the glass. The human man backed right off. No cracked glass. It was loud and REALLY fast, though. Scary. BOOM.

Definitely don't poke the bear. Gorilla. Whatev.

Welcome WolfsChild!

Thank you for posting Zoeydog, I know it's not easy so kudos to you for that and for limiting it to a blip too. It took me more attemts than I could count before I reached take off velocity. For anyone reading this you do not have to have stopped to join Weekenders, you just have to want to and we want you too as well. Same as the rest of SR I guess.

Good luck to junior petals!

Thanks for that link Gilmer, I will send Trach the postcards I bought in Whitby.

Hi weekenders
Well it’s 7am Monday morning here in Oz. I have today off, so I’m relaxing with my first coffee of the day (bliss).

Glad you’re still with us Zoey it’s so good that you’re still determined to stop drinking and are straight back here you can do this. Together we’re stronger
I had soooo many slips before I finally quit drinking and I can honestly say I couldn’t have made it this far without SR. I tried so many times to stop but it didn’t usually last more than a a day or two, occasionally a week or so. I’m a week short of 5 months today, and it’s thanks to the support on SR.

Gilmer thanks for reminding me of how the buzz just isn’t worth it. A couple of times on the boozy holiday I (the AV) thought hmmm a nice buzz from just a couple of wines would be nice... I have to keep reminding myself and being reminded by others (because I forget) that sure, the buzz may be nice, but it doesn’t last and it inevitably leads to drinking more and more and more until the awful hangover cycle kicks off again, being permanently plastered or hungover... These reminders are good, and necessary to keep me from falling for the AV’s trick of just one or two....

Bim that gorilla is freaky. I agree that it can be likened to the AV. Starts out all innocence and then Bam! Knocks you right on your ass...
