Changes
Nothing changes if nothing changes.
Simple to type, say, and read.
It is so true.
Nothing will change if nothing changes.
In order for my self to recover, I had to change everything. I wanted to change everything.
I let go of 95% (probably more) of the people I associated with. Why would someone do that?
Well, they were all drinking friends and that is it. We had no foundation of a friendship outside of the bottle.
There was no support for my not drinking.
There was a ton of support to continue my drinking. Which was not an option for me anymore.
They all drank like me, alcoholically.
To further the removal of people, I removed Facebook. Finally, no politics on a daily basis, no BS, no drama! Awe, life is so much better not being in the know. I truly do not care what people ate for lunch or whatever else. Not my monkey, not my circus.
I also removed the contacts in my phone of all those people from above.
I moved.
I bought my son and I a home about 40 mins from where we were. To a small cute town.
No one knows me.
Fresh start
I attend a different church, movie theater, bookstore, grocery store.
I don't hang out in the pub but rather the park with my son. Or I take him on hayrides or find a new park to go to, new experiences, which is what my life is now about. Creating new memories, ones I actually remember and for the most part enjoy.
I know not everyone can do what I have, but with minor changes, BIG changes can happen.
I hope you have a blessed SOBER day.
Blessings,
DC
