Just joined a meetup group for Lifering So I joined an online meetup group site where you can join various groups to do things with based on common interest. So I typed in sober groups, and there is a 7:30 Lifering meetup group for secular recovery this coming Monday at a very nice inpatient rehab nearby. Do you think this type of group can help me even though I’m involved in AA? |
I've only ever heard things abvout LifeRing FreedomCA :) Can't hurt right? D |
I don't see why it could hurt. Being involved with any community that promotes sobriety would be a good move in my book. Hope you have a good time, let us know how it goes! |
I think you should check it out. Can’t hurt. |
Ditto dee Scott and maud. So wonderful you are seeking out extra support. Looking forward to hearing how that goes. |
Thanks everyone. I’m looking forward to it as well. Plus I’m looking forward to the location of the group since it’s inside a rehab that has a very good reputation. It will be nice to meet more sober people in my community. |
12 step brought me a new concept of a Higher Power, which opened my heart and thoughts to new connections with God/Universe/Great Spirit/whatever concept is relatable. This, in turn, brings me to many places or people who have words that can help me. The other concept that I've greatly benefited by from 12 step meetings is "take what you like and leave the rest". No judgment on what views and approach others are taking. Simply gathering nuggets along the way of what's helping me. Have fun at the meetup. :) |
The Lifering meeting tonight was great. I really enjoyed the format and look forward to going to another meeting on Friday. Almost on Day 5. |
That's terrific FreedomCA :) D |
