LoveHateWhine, it's nice of you to try and support your friend through this as well as you can! But I think you can still set boundaries in a considerate way and tell her, that you understand her frustration and fear but that you'd appreciate it if she could not take your conversations as an outlet for those feelings.

I think that was you who asked me about the dates? I don't really know how that got so much recently. I often have guys chatting me up on the street or in a store but since I am single it just got a bit ridiculous. Maybe they can sense it somehow... I better slow down a bit on the date front since last night's events.

Sorry to hear you don't allow any positive thoughts about yourself MB. You come across as such a strong minded and capable woman, I am sure there's a ton of success as well as qualities about yourself that deserve to be seen and been proud of.
When I have moments where I start talking to myself to negatively, I try my best to not treat me any different like I would treat a good friend, to not expect more from myself than I do from others, to be just as understanding and compassionate about myself like I am with others.

Hi kev, I am the culprit when it comes to your sobriety age. I was somehow under the impression that you were closer to the 1 year mark. Ich bitte dafür vielmals um Entschuldigung!

Kein Problem, Captain! And the no-new-relationships-in-early-recovery is still something to consider in this situation, even if it's not so much on my part but on his. Of course he is an adult and making his own decisions but I think that I do still have a certain responsibility towards him in that case. I know that when I was only a few months sober like he is now, I was not able to make good decisions for myself.
So I don't want to make any decision in this just based on what would fit me and my life at the moment and what he thinks is a good idea. I already have a slight bad conscience for having kissed him back last night, I feel like I should've been more responsible maybe. Or it is that I am overthinking.

Anyway, I am impressed by your German!

Thank you for your kind words, weekenders.

Tomorrow is October - my favorite month of the year so far.

Let it be the start of a new page of my life.

Hello all, quick check in, will try to play catch up with everyone as the evening progresses. Had a good weekend, one fish was caught, good times were had and because there was no drinking I can remember all the good points!

Another weekend in the bag! Well done to all the weekenders

LHW - Your friend is more than likely terrified, exhausted, despondent, hurt, frustrated and feeling trapped. Whilst no-one likes to be at the end of someones backlash I doubt very much she feels happy for lashing out which is yet another thing for her to beat herself up over. It's an aweful situation for her to be in, I can't imagine what it must feel like when you are on high alert all the time just waiting for that next phone call to say your brother has died, because it sounds like that is where she feels she it at.

For me I would look at my part or contribution to this outburst too. You haven't been honest with her about your own addiction so to her your comment might feel like the many well meaning but unhelpful comments from others she has had who don't understand addiction or what she and her brother are going through. I know for me that I can get frustrated with anyone who is a "normie" that tries to offer me advice, they just don't understand and I kind of wish they would keep their comments and opinions to themselves (I have to work on that I know). Just my 2 cents worth and I will say a prayer for her and her brother when I meditate today.

MB - Wishing you strength this week. You have hated this job for a long time now, just be mindful of that and the reasons you feel it is time to move on when you have your conversations with your boss this week. From personal experience when I have (and others I know) given notice and then been convinced to stay it's never worked out great. The promises made never come, things don't change for long and all of a sudden I am trapped again and feeling hopeless. A change of scenery, new people, and new company and new challenge may just be the thing that helps you get out of the funk you are in. Wishing you lots of love and hugs xx

Willow - Thinking of you and sending you healing vibes across the ocean! Nothing more I can say other than keep strong and be kind to yourself. xx

I am feeling a little bored and directionless at the moment and I know I need to get on top of this and tweek my recovery plan. Leaving these feelings unmanaged is a recipie for disaster and not sure what do to about it but I am going to do my best with the knowledge I have gained so far, it's all I can do! On a positive note since I got back from rehab I have lost 18lbs in weight and 4 inches off my waistline so feeling pretty chuffed about that. Right, time to turn the computer off, get my trainers on and go for a walk in the sunshine otherwise I will sit here all day in my pj's and get sucked in to watching rubbish TV which is not going to help solve my boredom problem any!

Take care everyone and be good! xx

I just awakened to a fine semi-chilly South Texas morning and realized that there's fresh October in the air, zomg! I feel infused and infected with the Divine Pumpkin Spice of Joy, Kindness, and Possibility! I bet it's contagious.

Morning weekenders. Hope you all had a good one.

I lost a 20 pound note last night. In a way, it's a metaphor, I'm annoyed that I lost it, but it's basically what would have happened if I was still drinking. I'd still be 20 pound down, but feeling ill, as opposed to just a little miffed.

Ok, so I have a mystery! I went upstairs to have a shower before my walk and whilst I was in there my new kittie, Alfie was stalking round the bathroom and yowling at me. I got out of the shower and was on my way into the bedroom and there it was, right on the entrance...a huge dead rat!!! Now the mystery is that my kittie is still quite small and this was a big rat...could he really have caught it and killed it as the rat was twice the size of his head. Or, did the cat at the end of the street, Minty catch it and bring it in as a present for us? The door was open and I see Minty walk up the street every day with a rat in his mouth from the fields out front, he often comes in my house too!

That must have been a bit of a surprise Manta.
Our cats are always dragging field mice around the place, so far around the outside of the house... thank god.

We once found a mole too.
Cute little buggers the moles.
Funny how something so samll and cute and clean can do so much damage in a lawn.

I changed department this morning in work and have joined a new team in a new office. So its all new for today and the next few weeks. ..
Its always weird changing job, funny introspective thoughts and feelings. Stay positive Vman and go meet your new colleagues

Best of luck with the new team vman! I work in projects so are always having to change up teams I am working with once we have delivered. It’s sad to leave a group of people I’ve enjoyed working with but exciting to meet new ones and have a new challenge x

Hey MB;

If you are ready to walk anyway, what about asking for a hefty raise when you talk to the boss--meanwhile, keep working towards your own real goal.

If they say yes, you get some cash which would help even for a month or two so you can get some bills paid and have a bit for when you go out on your own.

You can always quit again

The letter of resignation is signed.

The big boss is leaving too.

Both scared and excited about new phase of my life.

Off to boxing.
