1000 Days of Sobriety!!!

1000 days, 24,000 hours, and too many seconds to write out the number.

Today officially marks 1000 days sober, and I am so excited to celebrate this milestone. When I think about what has changed in my life, I would have to say everything. My relationships are better, my mind is clear, and I'm back into a regular exercise routine. In the past 1000 days I've dealt with some health issues both personally, and family members, I've changed jobs, dealt with some unpleasant financial situations, and all the ups and downs that life brings, and I have done it without alcohol.

I love my sober life, I love that my kids have a sober mom, I love that every decision I make is with a clear head. I love waking up in the morning not worrying about what I may have said or done the night before. I love that the purchases I make on Amazon are done with thought, rather than on a drunken whim. I love that my eyes are bright and clear. I love that I don't cringe when I look at the number on the scale. I love my complexion, I love the support system I have found as a member of this site. And the one thing I've always struggled to say in the past "I love me!"

For anyone back at day one, or there for the first time, stick with it, do the work, do whatever it takes. You can do this, and sobriety is absolutely worth it.

For all of the amazing members on SR, thank you. Your posts, your support, and your stories have helped me reach this milestone, and I look forward to continuing to celebrate each of us as we all move forward together.

In honor of the 24 hour thread #thepowerofus

Biggest congratulations to you! 1000 days is one heck of a milestone and I'm sure your post will be inspirational to many who are on their journey to a life of sobriety. If people work as hard as you, their day one will change to day 10, to day 100 and eventually 1000 and more. You've certainly inspired me

Congratulations Delilah! That is fantastic! You have been a very regular poster since I joined these forums and I have very much enjoyed your insights, thoughtfulness, empathy, and positivity. Thank you! You continue to inspire a lot of people!

I, too, love to be a sober parent. I'm not sure about you, but for me, I know that I am breaking a chain of domestication that has existed in my family for several generations, where the "normal" thing was to have parents drinking almost every single night. Being able to drive my kids somewhere at 8 p.m. is a bonus too.

Congrats to you!

Being able to drive them places at night is such a huge bonus. I used to be grumpy that I had to wait to drink if they wanted to go somewhere. In the past year I enjoy had to take my son to ER, thankfully he was fine, but not worrying about driving was huge.

HA! I am on Day 10 and was thinking I just need to do that 100 more times to match Delilah's accomplishment!
