scared and worried

My boyfriend has gone missing. He left yesterday after we had an argument about his using drugs the night before.

I am prone to panic attacks due to an illness last year. I have been up for 24 hours wondering and suffering and I eventually had another attack. I don't know what to do. Do I try to find him? Do I call the police? Please, anyone who has any advice. My mind and body are freaking out.

HEY GYPSY,THE MAIN THING IS TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.
IF HE IS AN ADDICT LIKE ME,IF HE DOESN'T WANT TO BE FOUND THERE'S
NOTHING YOU CAN DO.
ADDICTS HAVE TO WANT TO STOP FOR THEMSELVES.
NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU WANT HIM WELL,
UNTIL HE IS READY IT CAN'T HAPPEN.
I SUGGEST LOOKING AT THE FRIENDS AND FAMILY FORUM,
GREAT BUNCH OF FOLKS TO SUPPORT YOU.
STAY STRONG,GODSPEED

I know what it's like to stay up all night and worry, but all that really does is make us sicker. He's doing what addicts do, and all the worry in the world won't change that. There's a bunch of us down on the Nar-Anon forum who have all been where you are, and who would love to meet you and share our experience, strength and hope...and yes, there is hope for him and for you.

Take a deep breath, stick around find a little peace here.

Hugs

Get some rest, and just look after you right now. Addicts disappear, but they usually surface within a couple of days. Maybe tomorrow, when you're a little more settled, you could check out Nar-Anon or Al-Anon meetings in your area. Live meetings will give you lots of support and start you on your way in a program that has helped so many of us. And keep coming here.

If you go down to the Nar-Anon Forum, there are some special posts "stickied" at the top with tons of good information. Just take a read around and make yourself comfortable.

Hugs
