Weekender Thread 14-17 September 2018
Hello Friends
I've been given the opportunity to dog sit through Sunday So I'll be quite busy but wanted to check in....it's the best kind of busy that'll keep me from drinking! Hopefully I can catch up on reading posts at some point.

Great to see you MB!!
Snuf, you can take cats over to Poland from the U.K. pretty easy and not too expensive either. Cat has to be microchipped and have an up to date rabies jab and treatment for tapeworm 30 days before travel, you also need a “good health” sign off from the vet too. Cats can travel on a plane with you in the cabin if you use KLM or Lufthansa. As you’d be coming from the U.K. there’s no quarantine either. Hope that helps! xx

Thanks Dee This thread seems to come around faster all the time. I love weekends now, I still treat myself to hot chocolate and ice-cream like I did in the early days. I think especially in the early days, it's vital to mark the weekend with some treat, to stop yourself feeling left out. I don't really need to do that anymore, but hey...its the weekend and I'm greedy when it comes to ice-cream
Have a safe and sober one everyone and stay strong.

Thinking of all things Scottish and Polish [which I am, according to my Adoption Papers], I pulled this Pic outta the Mesa Archives. East of Ft. Williams, and kinda up the Road from where some Exteriors were filmed for Braveheart. That's me in the blue Windbreaker few Decades ago! MesaMate is full-on Polish, and I found her Family's arrival at Ellis Island from Hamburg in 1908 in Ship Logs archived on-line.
That Trip, we stopped by a Family Estate down-Country to establish contact with a Boulder Gal Pal's Kin. In a sort of Full Circle Story, her Alcoholic Father had become very estranged from her, and thus she'd lost contact with his Kin there North of Aberdeen. It was historically and personally a very rewarding overture. With a happy ending for her.
Jethro Tull's Ode to that stunning region...
'Lay down and let the slow tide wash me back to the land where I came from.
Where the mountain men are kings and the sound of the piper counts for everything.'

As a middle aged divorced person, Fridays and Saturdays were an even sadder story of going home, making a few phone calls to pretend I was OK and then slumping in front of the TV with a bottle of scotch for some sustained alcohol abuse.
Waking up Saturday and Sunday? Awful. Living hell, it really was, being alive was physically and mentally a pain. Self destruction writ large and without even a real motive.
SR is about breaking out of our cycle of despair and Weekenders is for the time when the urge to self destruct is at its peak for many of us. We can post and share common experiences, good or bad, funny or serious so one minute there might be a debate about Spam or Snagglepuss but if someone is struggling everyone rallies round.
At the end of the day it's about reclaiming our humanity from a ruthless gaoler. Isn't it?

Hello all and happy weekend. Me and Mr B are off to the Aveyron district of France for a week. Famous for Roquefort and many other cheeses and a great area for hiking. Just between us, I will have my 60th birthday while we are there. Very grateful to have reached it and counting my blessings. Thankyou all for your wisdom which has been crucial to me reaching 500 days.
Sober since October

So much nicer looking than all the cakes and goodies.
I'm not posting much these days - I'm fine, though. Just burnt out from all the trauma and drama on SR.
Hi, "other" Blue.
Happy Sober weekend everyone.
Past couple of weeks now I've been slowly re-buying things that I pawned / sold to fund my habit (yes, it was getting that bad). Some things I'm not too fussed about, but it would be nice to be able to entertain the sober me.
I enjoy playing video games, so I've got myself a games console and a few games.

Welcome to Weekenders Bonnefond and congratulations on 500 days! Fantastic. Have a great time in the south of France.
Good to see yoo too biminiblue! Now all we need for the Hat Trick is LadyBlue.
Venus - those curved buildings are called Bezier Towers. They are luxury apartments (£5.5 million a pop) and something of a "hot potato" locally where, in a borough with a lot of homeless people they are less than 40% occupied. I agree they are impressive to look at though. They are in the neighbouring borough (Islington) to mine (Hackney)
Snazzy, i'm never sure which is the correct spelling, both seem to be used here. Touch wood it's not a word I have to type very often.
