It Although I have reduced my drinking I still have not quit. I will be 70 years old soon, December 1st to be exact. I have health problems on top of it. Ever since my husband died I have been so lonely. It's been 2 1/2 years. I tried dating YUK.
How do I save my own life?

Hi, I get lonely, too, after losing my girlfriend suddenly.
I fell right into the bottle. This was fifteen year ago. The love of my life.
I haven't had a drink for nine and a half years now.
I needed help to quit. I went to AA. I came here. Slowly but surely they helped.
To save our own lives we may need help from others.

Have you considered AA? It's a great way to meet people who are trying to stay sober, too.
You also just may make a friend. I know I did.
I'm sorry for the lose of your husband. And I hope you stick around here.

I am so sorry for the loss of your husband.

I am a bit younger than you, hitting my 60th on the next birthday.

When I decided to get serious about my sober life, I spent a ridiculous amount of time on SR. I discovered that this place was a gold mine of wisdom, love and support along with hard won knowledge from the trenches.

I see you have been here for a while so I hope to see more of your posts.
