Big day tomorrow

I think my timing is off with most of you because I’m in the USA and it seems like many others are not but my time tomorrow morning I’m set to run a half marathon. Staying sober, I’ve found, is crucial to my training. I made it three weeks in the summer and then fell prey to it all over again. Ten days sober now and hoping tomorrow is a start to many more sober days. Thanks for sharing your stories; since I found this site I’ve had hope that there are more people like me.

Right on. Have a good race!

Good luck on your run! Congratulations on keeping the course 10 days. That's awesome. I bet you're feeling better each day, no? You can do this.

Oregon here! Congrats on getting back to 10 days. With my relapses, 10 days is when I start to feel like my sober real self again. Have a great run- that’s a huge challenge and very inspiring. 😊

That to me is the main reason why SR is so helpful - knowing we are not alone and that there are thousands of others doing and facing the same thing. Simple really, but so reassuring!

Good luck tomorrow / today, Kaytea!

There are loads of folk from the USA on the site; there are people from all around the world though it seems mostly, but not exclusively, from English speaking countries. So you will get different responses depending on the time of day. What I have noticed is that Americans seem to get up very early in the morning, about 5 am. Well I'd call that early at any rate!

Ten days is awesome and best of luck today. It took me a lot longer to start running again. Exercise is important in my recovery- keep going!

Kaytea 09-02-2018 11:40 AM

I finished my race!! I am so proud of myself and I know that not drinking during the first three weeks and last ten days of my training really helped. Here’s to more runs, more sober days, and more goals to meet!

Well done! And your time?

Me - I'm only up to 5K at present but trying to stretch that.

Dee74 09-02-2018 04:33 PM
