Here I am

Hi everyone. I find myself in tears... I don't know how I got here but im here. I finally think I need help. I know I need help. I don't drink and do drugs everyday... But if I have one drink I get hammered and start calling for cocaine and just can't control myself. I am going to live sober from here forward. I need support. I know that if I don't change my life I'll either die or make a mistake that I can't take back. Any response is good... This is my first time admitting and asking for help I don't know anything about being sober or becoming sober

Hi Trev - Welcome to SR. You're in the right place and made the right decision by posting here and introducing yourself. A good place to start is just reading and replying to various threads on this site, and consider joining the August class with the rest of us newly sober people this month.

Hi Trev,

Hang in there, it was a tricky path for me to start on but well worth it!

Hello Trev

Tears are good because it probably means you know it's time to make changes. That's scary but you can do it!

Take it one day at a time (ODAAT) and be kind to yourself. You've taken on quite a challenge but it is one that you can achieve and you will be so glad you did.

Lots of help to be found here 24/7. Welcome!

Welcome!

What a great first step, admitting you have a problem! That takes a lot for someone to do. I applaud you for recognizing the issues.

Now the real fun begins, a life of recovery/sobriety.
Ok, it is not all fun, but with each passing day it does get better and easier!

I was like you.

I was a weekend warrior, a blackout artist too and I loved to do coke when I was drinking.
I have 11 months free from the shackles. If I can do it, I know you can do. It sounds like you are ready to put all that behind you!?

Make a plan, stick with it, and for every day you are given do not use!

Blessings,
DC

Welcome Trev, I'm glad that you've joined us.

It's always a good idea to have a plan in place to help you stop drinking and to recover.
