The best things in life are free.

Hi everyone

I thought I would check in because it's been a while since I posted an update. I'm 114 days sober today and things are going great. I did find myself in a bit of a funk a couple of weeks or so ago where all motivation seemed to desert me and I kind of felt like I was treading water. Everything seemed to get a bit mundane after hitting 90 days and I settled down into longer term sobriety.

I'm happy to report that everything is back to normal now and life is progressing nicely. The suggestion of practicing daily gratitude (thanks least!) has and is helping me tremendously, I take my sobriety very seriously but sometimes I think I take it too seriously and forget that I'm supposed to be enjoying my precious new sober life and should relax a bit. It suddenly occurred to me that I can go for days without thinking about drinking, thoughts still do pop up now and then but nothing like the amount they used to.

I never in my whole drinking career thought I would be in this position and it's wonderful.

I had the best day today, I went crabbing with my husband and his Grandma. It's been a beautiful day and the dock that we crab off has amazing views plus it isn't very busy this time of year so we had it mostly to ourselves. I took a few minutes to sit and dangle my feet over the ocean, to listen to the waves lapping against the wood and soak up the sunshine and to promise to myself that I will never, ever, take this for granted.

To anyone that is struggling, stay strong, you can get there just keep pushing on through

Heli

PS - I caught 13 crabs! Who knew? lol

Hi Heli,

114 days is really fantastic, well done

I'm glad things are back to normal and going well for you. From time to time there are rocks and obstacles on the road to sobriety but as you say, push on through and they will pass

Hope you have a great weekend.

John

Thanks for the lovely post Heli - I think you're so right. We are blessed if we take the time to stop and smell the roses. Or catch the crustaceans in your case x
