Now I know I'm done
I have had the most awful night and morning throwing up. I am on the bus going to work.
I give myself credit for getting dressed washed and having the courage to face the day.
This time I know for sure I'm done with alcohol I am allergic to it.

I could set my watch to your binges, HC.
I think you need some sort of plan for those moments before you drink.
What kinds of things can you do that would prevent you from taking the first drink?
Exercise?
Hobby?
A meeting?
Meditation?
Watching a movie?
Calling a friend?
I know you mentioned prayer before, and while that’s all good, you still have to refrain from picking up the first drink. Posting after the fact swearing it off only to drink again two weeks later just isn’t cutting it.
I’ve wasted more time than I care to admit doing exactly what you’re doing.

Sorry you got so sick Higher call but maybe this is what you needed to say goodbye to the poison. Today is day two for me, I am not as sick as you today but was really bad off yesterday and I know how horrid it feels. I hope you can push through and come back tonight and let us know how you are doing. You can come join the August newbie class if you want, they are rocking it and have lots of wisdom and hope to share.
^ yep.... what Daredevil said.
What will you do differently?
It takes CHOICE followed by ACTION - every day....
It takes change.
SO - what will you change. Right now, while you're in the midst of the misery and the convincing thoughts of the CHOICE to live sober....
What specific ACTIONS will you take, TODAY to support that sober choice?
(PS you can do it)

Trudging through the day hellishly hungover definitely takes grit highercall, but it’s the kind of grit none of us should have to muster up. And you never have to again by choosing not to drink.
I agree with others here you need to do something before you start drinking. Posting on here is always a good start.
You can do this.

Agree with daredevil. I even thought this was an old thread that had been revived, so had to check to make sure I'd not already commented in it.
If you care about being sober MORE than you care about getting drunk, please post in the forums before you drink.

Highercall,
Please join the August class - its a really good supportive group. I'm on Day 5 and we can do this together.
You need to start putting your needs first rather than your AV. You are more important than booze.
Stay strong hon. X

It's funny, when I used to hear "allergic to alcohol" I never understood it. I'm thinking, "Uh, I WISH I was allergic to alcohol, this would solve a heap of my problems"...but an allergy in this context means we can't drink alcohol like average individuals. It means once that stuff is inside us there is some chemical reaction that cannot be controlled and leads to destruction. I'm sure you know this, but remembering this every time my AV automatically pops up or I even try and rationally consider having a taste, I remind myself of this. Having a drink, or even another binge, doesn't seem like a big deal. The stuff is everywhere, being consumed all around us. But for us it IS. Just hold on to that thought, and remember how horrid you feel/felt and put the plug in the jug.
All you need to do to join is post.
