Sounds like many of us are having busy weekends!

I had a family dinner with some distant relatives on friday night which was very stressful, but yesterday i went to the cinema for the first time in years and certainly the first time i got sober. It was pretty good! It's so great being able to have date nights with my husband now 💜

Today i am just relaxing and doing some step four work ready for seeing my sponsor and a big bank holiday meeting tomorrow!

Hello gardenbug, welcome to the weekender!

I like insects, creepy crawlies and other small creatures that can be found in gardens and elsewhere.

6 days is fantastic, well done! It's not long now before you'll have a week to build upon and if you choose to you never have to start over ever again, good luck to you.

John

I came home a day early from visiting my friends. It was originally planned I would stay till either Saturday or Sunday, weather depending. Well, the weather was nothing short of perfect, but I came home yesterday afternoon anyway.

When I got to their place on Friday at Noon, they aready had the beer and wine out. They are not "obnoxious drunks" if that makes any sense. They go at it slow and steady. A beer here and there, a wine here and there. Then stop for awhile and drink iced tea or water. Then back to the same and it goes on till bedtime. I was fine, but seeing the wine out all day long, rose, red, white, whatever, was hard.

I woke up yesterday morning with a pounding headache and think I must have been clenching my jaw all night or griding my teeth. Perhaps from trying so hard to resist, which I did.

So yesterday around 11:30am, their cycle started all over again. First the beer, then the wine, and then I decided to come home. They didn't object, I only see these friends once a year and have little, if any contact for the entire year in between. It's a strange sort of friendship. I know I could count on them at any time, no matter what I ever need, without maintaining any sort of regular contact.

So, I just finished a 3 mile bike ride and am going to make a grocery list for the South Beach Diet. We went to a thrift store yesterday and I got the hardcover South Beach Diet book and the South Beach Cookbook for $2. Figure I need another goal besides abstaining from alcohol.

All have a great Sunday!
I'm glad to hear you've got through the socialising. I'm a jaw grinder too and when I have a tense day, it definitely gets worse!

I havent ridden a bike for years. I live in the city but it would be cool to go to the country soon, hire a bike and ride around

I would love to settle on a food program like the South Beach diet or something like that. It is just difficult to get husband on the band wagon.

Got half of the garage cleaned and purged with a trip to drop stuff off at the goodwill and filling the garbage can. Husband is supposed to do the other half today, we will see. I am sure a football game or a John Wayne movie will take priority.

Keep going starting over... Adding days. They are all important.

Welcome to the weekender Hawking. I love gardening (flowers and vegetables) and general outdoor work. I enjoy a little DIY too from time to time.

It sounds like you made the best decision for you LHW. Well done.

Have a safe trip Dragon.

Howdy John and Captain.!

I went for a cycle with my daughter and bumped into some neighbors who have a boy in my daughter's class so that was nice.

This is my girl with her war paint and feline friends :

That's an incredibly cute photo Vman! Actually it reminds me of myself when I was her age, there's a ton of similar photos of me with our cats.

I'll prepare dinner now so it'll be ready to eat when I come back from the gym and then I will take care of my plants a little bit. Some of them need repotting and cutting.

Hello Weekenders and howdy back at ya Vman!

Best wishes to all.

It's a very wet and grey day here today but I'm feeling good because I actually like the rain.

Sometimes I even sing this in it!

It sounds like lots of people are having nice sundays and thats great. LoveHateWhine and vMan - glad to hear you had nice bike rides - thats something else to look forward to when getting a little stronger.

I actually have had the energy to do some housework this morning and either that or just time has helped my fried nerves a lot, so things are feeling a little better now heading into the late morning of day 2.

I hope you all have great rest of your weekends.

Those husbands are always causing trouble! I'm something of a John Wayne man myself, him and Clint Eastwood are where it's at in my book.

Great picture of your daughter and the cats, Vman. I hope John Wayne doesn't mistake her for an Indian though!

Welcome to Weekenders Hawking22! My own hobby is classic cars. I did go to look at one in north London this morning briefly. (and discretely as I don't want the person to know I am interested) Unfortunately the heavens opened shortly after I got there.

Great pic VMan, your daughter is beautiful. My oldest granddaughter is a similar age - it would be a brave person who tried to keep her away from a face painting tent.

It was good Captain, very easy to run up a lot of calories though.

It is a lousy day weather wise, constant rain since midday. I feel sorry for the Notting Hill Carnival performers. Fortunately the main day is tomtomorrow and the forecast is better.

Happy Sunday Morning from California, Everyone!
Good to see that people are doing healthy, fun things like gardening and bike riding. Fought off a few cravings yesterday, but my reward was a lovely four-hour long AF lunch with my oldest where we talked about addiction and sobriety, as she is an interpreter at AA meetings, and got some great insights from her as well.
Congratulations to those who are gently tiptoeing through their first days of living without alcohol. Awesome work!

Happy Sunday ~

Yet another Sober Sunday - my 238 th or so - on Cruise Control here 'round MesaVille. Sunset below last Night was a good 'un; complete with distant Thunder/Lightning from a few Thunderheads passing by. I was out under the Arts & Crafts-style Porch I designed on this Solar House to take advantage of such cool, breezy Evenings. Listened to Remixes on this Laptop -> lil Portable Speaker System. The Remix linked below always makes us smile. Lots of nice classic Cars in the Vid, too.

~ Clocks - Coldplay & Buena Vista Social Club ~

Hi, Hawking!

From 2007 to this past December I took a course at a time in school. I finished my Bachelors at age 53, and got just over halfway through my Masters.

I dropped out because my life took a different but equally gratifying turn.

I felt an internal nudge to spend more time with the people in my life. Amazingly, even though I’ve always been an introvert, relationships with both family and friends have really deepened during this new season of life.

Time spent with them has really taken up the bulk of my time recently.

Without the maturity that has come from my sobriety journey, there is no way I would have been open to anything but sheer selfishness.

A Blessed Sunday and Greetings to all!

Still doing laundry! Got sidetracked paying bills, patio cleaning and housecleaning yesterday.

Any MidnightBlue sightings?

Lots of love to all.

Welcome to Weekenders Branches!

(((Gilmer)))

Amazing sunset pic MesaMan, I hope those forest fires are not the cause.
