Today is my anniversary-36 years ago I had my last drink I'm posting this in the newcomer's section because I never thought this would be possible. I expected to die young and almost did. I was physically addicted and could not get off the roller coaster. A neighbor called an ambulance and I had three grand mal seizures and spent 10 days in the hospital. Then I went to rehab for two months, then I drank three more times in early August 1982 (when the antabuse had worn off) and ultimately decided for me, drinking was no longer an option. Period. I began therapy, went to AA the first year, and the rest is history. For anybody struggling and cannot imagine a life without drinking, know it can be done. |
