You are all correct, I definitely should have held my ground. I made a mistake, I took one sip and then let the glass be, but I never should have taken that sip. It was super uncomfortable. Had he, for example, brought out the bottle and glasses to pour there in front of us I would have felt fine stopping him there. But he brought out the glasses already poured and I panicked. Lesson learned. I feel awful and I don't want to repeat this. However, I am also glad that I only had a small sip and didn't do full on crazy.

From reading your first post it did seem that you went on to drink the glass but that must have been down to a language thing.

What's done is done, it's not as if you got drunk and maybe from this experience you will be in a stronger position to deal with such situations in the future. You'll just have be watchful that your AV doesn't take advantage of that sip!

All of us have made mistakes Mera - try not to dwell on it, but do think about a strategy for the next time you're blindsided

you can do this!

for you Mera I love this song:

Brave
Sara Bareilles

You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody’s lack of love
Or you can start speaking up
Nothing’s gonna hurt you the way that words do
And they settle ‘neath your skin
Kept on the inside and no sunlight
Sometimes a shadow wins
But I wonder what would happen if you
Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave
Everybody’s been there, everybody’s been stared down
By the enemy
Fallen for…

With love you can do this!

Hi Mera,

I agree with many others that a simple "No thanks, I don't drink." Would be the perfect response.

How have you been doing? Have you been able to see your kids? Have you been seeing your new therapist?
