I wrote this in 2013... long before being sober became real....

“This is a battle of life and death. In any other battle I would be fighting with a fierce sense of purpose. Against any enemy I will crush.

In this fight I am the prize... my life.

I seem to hold this most valuable thing as the least.. How is that possible?

You point a gun at me and I will wrestle you to the ground because I want to live.

You pull a knife on me and I will turn it on you and kill you

You pour a drink for me and I will drink it and like myself. “

I stop in here every now and then. A friend is going down the rabbit hole. I try to give good advice but he is on his train tracks heading in the wrong direction. Had to cut ties.

I on the other hand and loving this sober life. Work is going so well. My career is on a super high. Live alone now and build a life with only those people in it who reinforce my sobriety and who I am. Such a world of change since this first got posted.

You all have seen me through some really really bad times. I see your avatars and I feel safe and good. Thank you for that!!! Thank you...
