Hangover headache
Hangover headache
When I didn’t drink but spent the day painting my bathroom. I feel like I have a bad hangover . I guess I have been feeling so much better now that I am almost 30 days sober that it is very pronounced.
Had a bit of a craving yesterday I think because I was tired but I didn’t last long.
It worried me though because it was the first time I have had one this time around.
Hope everyone is having a good week!

I had terrible "hangover-like" headaches the first couple of months of sobriety. They passed. But there was a time or two I thought to myself, "If I am going to feel this bad, I might as well drink." Luckily, I didn't act on such thoughts.

I think having the occassional headache is normal. I guess as an addict I'm just used to attributing everything to drinking.
I also think it is normal to have fleeting thoughts, or even cravings to drink, I'm an addict after all. Why wouldn't I? I try to accept them, double down and commit to not drinking no matter what. Then move on.

that it did not start with their actions: it started with their thoughts.
The way you think determines how you feel and affects how you act. If you want to change something in your life or break a bad habit, then figure out what caused you do the thing you want to change.
You can’t get addicted to a substance or behavior, if you don’t learn it does something for you.
What all humans really seek is a sense of control. What we really seek is not a drink, a drug, porn or a bet, but a sense of empowerment, especially in the face of feeling overwhelmed, helpless, trapped and powerless. Exactly how we choose to empower ourselves and regain control of our emotions (feelings), our life, is what needs to be discerned, understood and then managed.
Yes, painting a bathroom can be empowering as it helps escape the trap. Keep up the good work.
