Weekender Thread 02-06 AUGUST 2018
Vman, today my above ground pool gets taken away. In it's place, I'll be digging out the top couple of feet or so of clay soil and replacing it with good top soil. I'll mix in some compost and let it settle for the winter. Next year, I'm starting a veggie garden. My dad is an avid gardener and I hope to pick up a few tips and tricks from him.
Cool Dragon. My mother in law gives me lots of tips and help. Tomates are my preferred but we have aubergines, courgettes, peppers, potatoes and pumpkins too. We try something new every year. Last year it was water melon with limited success. Likewise I will have to get in some topsoil and compost in the automn or spring.
Pool or garden? Hm. Not sure I could opt for garden in that case, STDragon, but I would love the fresh produce.
Another weekend in the sober books.
This is one of those really important posts.
"My addiction still pokes me. I just step out of its reach."
I read a lot in Newcomers and there is a recurring theme of being frustrated that the drinking thoughts keep hanging around. I don't think they ever truly 100% go away, so it pays to find a way to deal with them when they do come.
"I don't drink." is what I say when they come up. It works every time. But expecting the thoughts to completely go away I think is an expectation that is doomed to fail. Mental association and memory. Nothing more.
Manta, you sound peaceful. I'm happy you are settling in.
Vman. Lucky they still sell tomatoes at the market. Enjoy your holiday! I would like to holiday in France, please!

Oh, and yesterday on my walk on the berry patch trail I asked a man with a fitness tracker how long the walk was from X to X. My walk is five miles of big hills. Yesterday it wiped me out in the heat. I kept eating handfuls of berries, though. Energy - that was my story.
He told me that last week a bear crossed the trail a ways up from him when he was there! So!
Bear week Part ll.
Also, I saw (and got to hear it calling) a Sharp Shinned Hawk. That was a first for me. It even flew right across the trail at eye level.

afternoon here (+8 hours from you). how are you doing today Bim? I thought my eyes were going funny til I realized your coffee picture was a gif
Scrambled eggs with garlic chicken sausage and cheese. Vitamins, water, coffee. Life is very very good indeed with a full tummy.
Today - Zoo! Because it's Monday.
Fairy Penguins in Aus.
And who isn't really a penguin?
No.......say it isn't true....I thought the 'man' photos were a brilliant cover by a very clever penguin who lives in London and works as an engineer....
OK...I need more coffee. Or maybe not.

So today I got my first ever bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar from Scottsdale US. I have read amazing reviews about it and often seen it mentioned here so decided to place an order over internet. So tonight we will test it. Any tips welcome...!
It's salad weather anyways

The two penguins I used to sponsor at London Zoo (Hank and Grizelda) were Humbolts, the species are endangered now due to overfishing. Sadly Hank is no longer with but lived to the ripe old age of 19 which ancient for a Humbolts. Grizelda is still going strong though.
I must say I have read a lot of positive articles about the benefits of Apple cider vinegar, not tried it yet.
Venus, not only am I not a Penguin but I'm not really an engineer anymore. I was always much better at talking about engineering work than I was actually doing any of it so I morphed into becoming an engineering salesman or desk jockey. My hands are now metaphorically dirtier but literally cleaner.
Waving bears??
NAH...
They were waving at the bears behind the guy filming, shouting out- 'look guys, home delivery! Our food is waving at us!'.
Penguins do not walk on their toes, they do not have lips and rarely go to the opera.

Bim, I also upload pictures in some crazy way, I email them to myself, resize in photoshop, then send again...
Glad you had a nice time at the Zoo. I love that squished penny! So cute.
As for apple cider vinegar, I bought it once because I've heard it's good for weight loss. I had a spoon or two aaaaand I forgot all about it. I think I might still have it somewhere in the kitchen...
