First Night Tips Wanted

So today has been a little painful (quite literally), headache, anxiety, palpitations and stomach cramps... Not to sure if it's the withdrawal or if it's the thought of the mental mountain I'm attempting to commit to climbing by way of getting sober.

It's now 2am where I am and I cannot sleep and pretty much all I can think of is 'this wouldn't of been a problem if I'd been on the wine today'

Any first day/night tips?

Try and get a much rest as you can, even if it's lying there, eyes closed

The sleep will come and the aches and pains and feeling bad will go - hang in there

The first few days of detox are not fun, but it will get better each day. Rest, moderate exercise if you can, and good food. It's rough at first but the physical withdrawal is only a few days.

Look. This by far the best thing you can do for yourself. Whatever happens, don't drink.
Now, having said that, it might be the hardest thing you'll ever do, too.
Drink water. As much as you can stand. I took off my shirt and wrapped myself in a large towel. That way the sweat was absorbed, I could shed the towel if I was hot and snuggle into it if I was cold.
Have friends with you if you can.
Pray if you are inclined - HARD.
Don't get hungry - although I just threw up for 24 hours. What you are doing we all had to do. You can do it. I wish you well.

Do a full clean out. Any leftover booze, dump it.
Any alcohol paraphernalia, wine glasses, beer mugs, shot glasses, throw them in them in the garbage.
The next step is making sure none of this ever appears again

The good thing is each day gets a little easier. Try taking a look at some mindfulness apps, they have some to help sleep, some to deal with anxiety... they really do help.
