Hi Cuckoo,

I hope you feel better today.

Blackouts are the worst. I know the feeling, sometimes I had avoided looking at my phone for days because I'm afraid of whom I had called and what I had said.

I think despite you feeling so awful about your drinking you are still very lucky. Nothing major has happened.

I agreed with Berrybean post:

So far you have lost some important parts of yourself, but you still have your job, home and family. So many people think that they're not in danger of losing these things- until they do. Alcoholism is progressive. It is cunning and baffling, and like the tide it can be stealthy. Alone it can be too much for us to take on.

Stop sooner than later cause things will only get worst.

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and words which I am not deserving of.
The self loathing is overwhelming at the moment is all I can really say.

Hello Cuckoo

We all deserve support when trying to get well. The self-loathing will pass in time as long as you don't reset the clock by drinking again.

I'm glad you checked in.

Like all of us, you are so much more than the worst thing you ever did. You are loved.

Please read this little story (again, if you have read it before). You deserve to be happy and to get better. Believe this please, and go out and start letting those grey dots drop off.

Hey Cuckoo. The self-loathing was crippling for me. It made me feel like everything I did was a waste of time. In fact, I thought, if I hate myself, being drunk is probably preferable to being sober. The self-loathing was always there when I was drinking. Always.

But here's the thing: The self-loathing goes away when you decide to get sober. It really does. It takes a few days. But eventually you will begin to hate yourself less. And, brace yourself, you will eventually learn to like yourself and maybe even love yourself. This is one of the best gifts that sobriety gives to you. And it is a gift that you can give yourself - starting today.

I highly recommend it.

Good luck. Please keep posting. A lot of us are pulling for you.

For some reason my spirits are high today. A weight has been lifted and I am not sure why.
I am going to start a new thread today with a more optimistic title to match my attitude.
Thank you all for your good wishes and I apologise for hunkering down.
