Can I come back ?

Can I come back and join please ?
Been here so many times.....I don't think I can do it.
The longest time I have in sobriety is when I'm with you guys on here …. as soon as I leave and think I can go it alone …. my old friend the "red wine" wins …..

Shenzy,

I use this site to hold myself accountable.

I learned here that us addicts have chronic brain damage.

Now that the physical addiction is gone, the mental burdens me all the time.

I crave every day, but I feel so amazing I will never drink again.

The healing has taken years so far.

Thanks.

Thank you D122y

I need to be here every day to hold myself accountable also, otherwise it's hopeless, I'm hopeless …..
The depression and self loathing is the worst ….

Hi Shenzy.......I joined in 2014 also. My relapses occurred when I didn't nurture my sobriety. As the days went by, I always found something else to do rather than check in and read the posts or to provide support to others where I could. Also, I didn't have a solid plan. For me, the farther away from SR that I got, my AV gained strength. Recently I didn't have internet for 4 days and I was almost in panic mode. Fortunately I was at least able to log into the 24 hour thread with my phone. Stay close to SR, Shenzy. It will help. Rooting for you.

Please DO come back. Every day. You can do this, and it will be so, so worth it.

Rooting for you.

Yes Shenzy - we are always welcome to come back!

I think I'm in the same boat as you and I need to keep trying too. It's hard but we can do it. We can support each other. I' m so glad you came back xxx

The door for recovery always swings both ways and always will. The nature of addiction is that people are in and out. It takes what it takes. Get knocked down 10,000 times get bk up 10,001.

The key trait for successful people (success can be whatever you want it to be) is resilience.

Do we really need another alcoholic around here who is struggling to make themselves better?

You absolutely deserve support Shandy, it took courage to post after a relapse but you did and that is encouraging.

I don't know how you feel about this, but one of the things I've come to believe in the last 4 years is that God is Love. And grace is undeserved / unearned love. I've experienced a lot of unearned / undeserved love through this place and AA, and if God is our creator, then that comes to me, indirectly as a gift from him. So, like many people, I can say that I am still sober by the grace of God.

The sticky thing about grace is never earning it (if we earn it, it simply isn't grace at all, it's a reward). Nope - the tricky bit is accepting it. And then starting to extend it to others so we can live in it. And theres no better place to be sober than in the flow of grace.

I've never met you, but I know that you are loved. You deserve to be sober - happy, joyous and free. All of us do.

Wishing you all the best for your sobriety and recovery.
BB
