Nausea still

I woke up this morning after 3 days dry with a hangover. Must be all catching up to me.
Ive been feeling nausea for all 3 days. Just have to keep eating small meals regulary.
How long has this gut problem lasted for others?
Thanks all.

Sorry to hear that you are suffering. Detoxing your body from alcohol has a timeline but, everone's body is different. Drink fluids to stay hydrated. Small nutrious means are great to get your body the vitamins and minerals that may be lacking. Usually, 5 days for your body to feel better. Most importantly, the brain needs to reconstruct itself because alcohol changes its chemical balance. This will take longer and this is why we call it recovery.

I don't think its uncommon to feel nauseous at day three, but of course if you're concerned maybe check with your doctor?

Water with a little sugar

And a little salt really helped me! Try it!

My nausea lasted a while, but it had also been a while since I had been eating normally due to my drinking. I think it lasted two weeks, but became more intermittent during that time. As a poster said, salt and sugar helped a lot.

I think the time frame is different for everyone. It always took me two days. I think its good you are eating, but make sure what you are eating is "good". Meaning not week old egg salad that has been sitting on the counter (exaggerating a little). Obviously bad food can cause its own issues.

I hope you feel better soon.

Sometimes I wake up feeling what seems like a hangover. For me, it's actually dehydration. Stay hydrated. When you think you are well hydrated, drink more water.

Me too. I don't know for sure that mine is dehydration, could be a blood sugar issue or something, but I'm always relieved it's not alcohol induced.

Final,

I never had nausea. Everyone is different.

I had hellish balance and special disorientation issues. I wouldn't drive on the free way for 3 months. Trying to walk up bleachers...forget about it.

So basically, hell on earth when it comes to moving around. I know it could have been way worse...e.g. Convulsions and seeing flying things etc.

So that is the physical/mental side of getting clean initially.

The crazy thing all of us ex drunks deal with is this...as soon as we start to feel better...time to get drunk again.

The insanity of addiction.

Thanks.

First 3days were the worst for me,but with allergies and nonsense sometimes it was around 5days. Just know drinking resets the 'clock'.

Of course you feel rotten. You're in acute withdrawal. It only lasts a few days and then you start feeling better. :) Hang in there and don't drink!

My last detox was with a benzo taper, and even then I barely ate for 3 days. I'd also hosed my stomach with gastroentiritis from the alcohol itself. Klonopin and booze detox at one point in my drinking career...didn't eat for a week.

It gets better quickly. Hope you are already nibbling.
