Weekender Thread 12 - 16th July 2018
Well done on getting through another weekend Willow!
I hope you have seen off the AV Manta and are getting some rest.
VMan that is troubling about Marley, maybe he is not used to children, other than your daughter and finds them strange. I'm sure it needn't be permanent. Well done for overcoming your own AV too.
It's another scorcher of a day in London. Some open spaces at the north eastern edge of London seem to have caught fire yesterday but no injuries I understand.

A hell of a lot of falls in yesterdays stage 9 of the Tour.
Richie PORTE and Robert GESINK were among the most notable abandons.
Its tough for the australian Richie PORTE, who was in strong form for this tour, as he also crashed out on stage 9 last year with broken collar bone and damaged Pelvis.
Our best french hopes Romain BARDET and Warren BARGUIL are 17th and 18th.

So many fighting the good fight this weekend. You guys are miracles. Purps, H&S, Manta, Vman. Well done for doing what it takes.
I had an imaginary three inch thick plexiglass shield between my hand and any alcohol. My first defense was thought changing, then getting busy doing something useful. The thought always passed. Venus, I had the Serenity Prayer on a loop in my head for at least six months in the beginning. It solves any problem.
Vman, sorry about Marley. I would be worried, too. I wouldn't let those kids come over any more. (I'm not serious.) I had a Cocker Spaniel who was like that, as a matter of fact that's how I got him. He was about to be given to the shelter by his first owners. He never acted like that around me. I hope you get it sorted. If you don't, I'll take him (again, kidding.)
Cold brewed coffee for the win.
One scoop coffee, one cup cold/cool water in a mason jar over night. Voila, coffee the next morning. Filter through a strainer. Surprisingly smooth. Over ice with milk and chocolate.

welcome back H&S, Purps & anyone else who's been struggling.
hang in there ML. I'm glad you're in a safe place whilst you're having your AV flare-up. IT. WILL. PASS. & when it's passed, those nascent neural pathways that know you can stand discomfort without picking up will be strengthened.

I have to say I'm getting worried about Marley (our dog in my avatar)
We have a 3 year old English Setter, Marley.
We purchased him as an 8 week old puppy so he has been with us since the start.
A few months ago he snapped at my little nephew, snapped at his face and knocked off his glasses. I let it slide. Yesterday our neighbors were over with their 5 and 8 year old boys. Once again our dog showed his teeth and snapped at the 8 year old boy.
We are honestly very worried.
We leave Marley run free at home all day everyday.
We live in the coutryside so loads of space around the house.
He wears a petsafe collar to prevent him from being tempted to leave.
He is very excitable and very physical. He never stops running.
My daughter plays freely with the dog.
He has never showed any kind of aggressive behavior towards us nor my daughter, never. He seems to dislike other people’s children. I underline he was not being provoked. They just wanted to pet him and kindly, gently.
Once again, we are honestly very worried.
Probably time for professional help.

Yes, please get professional help.....don't laugh, there are pet psychologists. Professional vets with additional training.....I think it's very fixable and he needs to be desensitised over something......a lot can happen to them before they are 8 weeks old. Believe you me, I know....and I have a permanent big scar on my calf where Venus bit me through to the bone when she was going for a puppy. It wasn't her fault....she was badly abused before I got her (6 weeks).
It may be a smell....a particular scent that frightens him, or something else....but I believe it's possible for them to get over this.
So much love to you and Marley. xx
Thanks everyone for your well wishes ❤️
Vman I hope you get some solutions for helping Marley be more sociable, some of the animal behaviourists seem to be pretty amazing at getting positive results with problem behaviour in our fur babies. And well done on beating that AV into submission with ice cream and peaches!
(((Manta))) stay strong, you are stronger than you know
Venus I feel for you! My man has a teenage daughter Hopefully it’s a fun trip though
Have a lovely sober day/night everyone xxx
