World Cup game today...
Hello all
It is morning in the UK and the match kicks off in 5 hours. My husband and I have friends coming over and I'm currently busying getting food ready.
This is hard. I can do this but wanted to post whilst I feel vulnerable.
SR is amazing, I couldn't be doing this without you all.

Thank you for posting CC Much better than reaching for the bottle. It is hard when those around you are drinking but I always imagine the next morning when I'll be getting up fresh and raring to go - not feeling sick, not afraid that I've said something that I shouldn't, not exhausted through bad sleep and not feeling even more dehydrated in the heat. It helps me Hope that you enjoy your day. Much love Yix x.

You can do it.
When England win and you don't drink think how euphoric your going to feel when you wake up on Sunday morning all fresh with a clear head.
And even if they lose 1 to 0 ....or even 2 to 0 or even go out on penalties and you don't drink think how euphoric your going to feel when you wake up on Sunday morning all fresh with a clear head.
It's really a win win situation for you, just don't drink.
Enjoy the game with your husband and friends

I have done this too when I've found myself in tough situations. It works. There will be other events and get togethers during your sobriety journey. Getting through this one will make you stronger for the others. You can do this. SR is on standby. .

Thanks all, it's going good. I'm so glad that I haven't drank today 😊
It was extremely hard when I posted this morning, weirdly the hardest morning for me recently despite a holiday abroad and various other events and celebrations this summer.
Yep, England up in the WC, but I just focused on my sobriety rather than the match.
I hope you're all having a good weekend.
CC 😊

Hey CC
Sorry I did not notice your thread. I was cheering for England and probably annoying others with my updates and celebrations and I could have been keeping you sober company. It was a very exciting match. Hope you were able to enjoy it and came out victorious not only over the Swedes but the dreaded AV. He is a definite party pooper and needs a little kicking to the curb.

IT'S COMING HOME! IT'S COMING HOME, FOOTBALL'S COMING HOME!
How did it all go in the end? I was in the pub where I work as my shift started straight after the match ended and I really enjoyed watching it sober. Was actually pretty entertaining watching others get progressively drunker and shout more at the screen
