First sober holiday in 25 years
 

Wow!! I did it!

Sometimes minute by minute. But I made it!

Big Fourth of July (abuse alcohol holiday in US) holiday and I made it.

I was the only one out of seven people on a big boat that did not drink. It was really odd and wonderful at the same time to see these people get drunk and make fools of themselves, and to think at one point, this was me in my former life is a drinker .

Tuesday afternoon came, July 3, and anticipation of beautiful weather and being out on Lake Michigan and a big boat and meeting new people brought the AV calling in my head very strongly .

I thought for certain I would cave in. My ABF has a cooler packed for me with water and ginger beer (ginger ale).

He told the host (not in my presence) that I was taking a break from alcohol . Wish he would have asked me or wish I would have had the discussion ahead of time about who, when and how that message was delivered .

But. I’m 38 days today.

So proud of you for making it through the 4th sober! It is such a drinking holiday...

I'm at 67 days and I'm still not comfortable being around drinkers. I went to a bunch of sober BBQs / parties and that super helps.

My bf also told people I was sober before I was ready. I was a little pissed at the time, but now I'm just glad that people know. The more people know I'm sober, the more accountability I will have, the less likely I will be to relapse.
