He wrote the song while dealing with the helplessness he felt in dealing with his son's diabetes. It's such a beautiful song. Crank it up!

"Jesus I will cling to you come what may."

I was looking through that thread last night, and that’s how I got it—I clicked on your link!

It held special interest for me last night, because my dear friend I mentioned earlier in this thread (the one with the horrific family crisis) told me that she found immense comfort in the song.

When I reheard it last night, I said, “Wow! No wonder!”

I can’t stop replaying it now!

He is so emotive in his use of his voice, too. Softly, lovingly, beseechingly, then strong and convicted.

They have so many really good songs - don't miss the rest of them!

That one is the show-stopper, though. If you get a chance to see them live - add it to your bucket list. :) They're on tour this summer, I think.

I just saw the movie “I Can Only Imagine.”

biminiblue 07-17-2018 06:43 AM

Oh! I haven't seen it. Bart Miller is really something. Is the movie about the band or something more dramatic?

Purplrks3647 07-17-2018 07:17 AM

What a pretty song...and holy crap, that story! :( Thanks for sharing...hope you're having an awesome day!

The movie is mostly a bio of Bart’s early life, with the making of the band intertwined.

It is dramatic and triumphant.

Midwest1981 07-17-2018 09:48 AM

I still have to see that movie Gilmer! I do love that Mercy Me song too.

SoberLeigh 07-17-2018 10:51 AM

Thanks so much, Kathy, for that MercyMe song - so beautiful.

I couldn't get to the comment, either, even when I paused the video. I will try on a different device.

Wishing a beautiful day for you.

Gil, I rarely come here but had to so I could comment on this thread that I am grateful you started.
As you can see you have inspired and touched so many here. Your constant giving of positive words and support have impacted many. Your quirky sense of humor has brought laughter and smiles as well.
You are so loved and cared for here. Can you feel it?

I am so sorry you are facing this. I hope you take care of you because I know you want to also take care of those you love and you want to make everyone happy because that is the kind of person you are.....except maybe at Thanksgiving. lol
I hope you continue to come here and share your thoughts and feelings. Sometimes it helps to get it out, especially things we cannot always share with those closest to us.
I enjoyed the beautiful song by Mercyme (I LOVED the movie "I Can Only Imagine" and cry at the song) and reading the moving comment from the mother on the comment section. I have seen this several times and I am in absolute awe of people who are able to do this. I find it one of the most difficult things to do but know if God can forgive me then I in turn need to do so. You know I am struggling with this right now with a family member. it seems so trivial but for some reason it is not always so easy to snap our fingers and do so. I constantly ask for His help with this.
Anyway, one song I listen to almost every night helps me end my day on a positive note. Your faith is unwavering as is mine.
I love you Kathy and I hope in some way this song helps you as it does me when I face tough times whether deaths of friends or family, my dealings with my parents failing, being hurt by others, etc. Hope you enjoyed your time in PA and can get some much needed rest. You must be exhausted. Hugs.

It will floor you!

It was significantly farther down, but I found it. Thanks. WOW! I got to listen to the song again. It's great, Kathy.

Gilmer 07-17-2018 03:53 PM

I’m glad you saw it, Rar.

NAB! It is great to see you! Thank you for coming by, and thank you for sharing that uplifting song. The singer has a voice that is capable of both quietness and power.

A bit of a stomachache today, but it might be something I ate.

I had lots of energy this morning, but totally petered out after noon.

There was a very exciting delivery today: my very own deluxe recliner with all the bells and whistles!

Last week my husband went out on his lunch break to the La-Z-Boy showroom and tested out every chair in the store to pick out the most comfortable—and this one definitely is!

It is now sitting proudly in my daughter’s old bedroom, along with a flat screen TV (!).

The old queen bed has been moved out to make room for the hospital bed from hospice that will eventually be put here.

As soon as the recliner arrived I sat right down and reclined. It really was comfortable! Then I tried the massage feature, thinking that it would be more hype than anything.

Sure contraire! It actually felt really good on my lower back muscles. I didn’t realize how much they were hurting till I used the chair!

So I just luxuriated there for about 15 minutes, then I turned the massage off and snoozed for an hour, drifting in and out of shallow dreams.

Such bliss!

Anyway, that was the apex of the day. I turned antsy and grumpy at dinnertime. I did not get finished the project I had hoped to finish—didn’t even start!

I think tonight is going to be one of those nights ends mercifully early!

Hevyn 07-17-2018 05:56 PM

The chair was a great idea. I hope you can get some quality sleep tonight, Kathy.

Gilmer 07-17-2018 06:01 PM

Me too! :lmao

courage2 07-17-2018 09:06 PM

I'm glad your husband is thinking of you Gilmer. Me too :)

Kaneda8888 07-17-2018 10:10 PM

Prayers and thoughts to you dear Gilmer

Delilah1 07-17-2018 11:07 PM

Hi Kathy,

Just checking in. Sounds like your husband was spot on with the chair. I'm glad you were able to enjoy it this afternoon.

Have you planned out any of your trip yet?

Gilmer 07-18-2018 12:50 AM

Hi, Kaneda! :wavey:

Yes, Delilah! My friend and I got it all planned out last night!

This morning I hope to make the official (refundable) reservations!

I am so deeply grateful for these amazing things!

I am wide-eyed, like a little kid at Christmas!
