The First AA

I have always been extremely stressed at work, which is for sure my trigger. I would drink at work all day then go home and significantly slow down the drinking but be absolutely useless to my family because I was coming down from the buzz. Today I decided work will always be stressful BECAUSE of the drinking. I wouldn't be slacking and falling behind schedule if I was sober. It's a rare day off and rather than pace the house worrying about heading back to work tomorrow, I decided to head to my first ever AA meeting. I enjoyed it and plan to attend another this week. I want to get clean and stop this nonsense. Thanks for reading.

That's great to hear UhOh- very glad that you have decided to quit and make some positive change in your life. There are lots of friendly and supportive folks here as well, feel free to ask questions or share anything you might like to know about.

Good for you on your decision to stop drinking and going to AA. You certainly are taking steps in the right direction toward sobriety.
I found AA valuable in my recovery, too. I'm glad you liked the meeting and are going back.
Welcome to the site and your post brightened my day. Thanks.

Good job, UhOh! AA has been very helpful to me and I'm glad you enjoyed the meetings--lots of experience, strength and hope to be found in the rooms. Wishing you all the best on your sober journey.

My path to recovery began exactly the same way. Still sober 38 years later.

Me too

I just started AA a month ago - sounds like similar situation as yours, where I had finally just HAD IT. The meetings have really made a difference in my ability to stay sober. Good job, keep it up!
