500 Days!

Wow I can’t believe it?! A few years ago I couldn’t get 3 days sober. I am so grateful for SR and the program of AA! It has shown me so many things that has helped me to live a life that is fulfilling and rewarding. Don’t get me wrong I do have days that are rocky but if I apply the principles that I have been taught I can remain sober 1 day at a time. By living life on lifes terms and using the 12 steps on a daily basis I can continue to have an incredible life.
A little over 500 days ago I was sitting in my cabin, no job, no friends, very sick full of resentment, fear and self-pity with a 1.75L of Captain Morgan rum in my mouth. Drowning my feelings was the only way I knew to cope with life. Now I have a job, a nice place to live, a wealth of friends and the knowledge that I can move through life dealing with it’s challenges sober.
Thanks!
Garrison

Well done to both of you.

500+ days that's some serious sober time.

I am approaching 6 months things can still be quite testing for me.

Stay strong!

Congrats on 500 days! Did you suffer any paws and if so how long? I'm at four months and my anxiety comes in huge waves over the top like. I can feel it coming on because the ringing /buzzing in my ears goes thru the roof.

I suffered from PAWS bad myself, the first 6 months where really bad but I wasn't actually feeling better until around 13 months.

Congrats on 500 days. Thank you for sharing. Your description of how you felt 500 days ago is close to how I feel now minus the alcohol. Reading that and realizing my head is there helped......a tiny bit.
