Not been on in a while (150 days sober) I just wanted to stop by to offer a few words of encouragement to those who are beginning their sober journey. I’m working on recovery and I can tell you that it can and does get better as time goes on: I’m in an immeasurably better place than I was back in January and my health — mental and physical — continue to improve. I’m still occasionally subject to what I’m pretty certain are episodes of PAWS (your poor neurotransmitters need to time to return to baseline as a recovering alcoholic, just like the rest of you), but these are growing less intense and in the times in between I can see just how good sobriety can be. Day to day, I’m more productive, more patient and a hell of a lot less self-absorbed and self-pitying than I was when I was drinking. It’s about time, too. Do NOT give up! Give yourself the gift of sobriety. Best to you all. |
Wyn, Congrats on your success. After about 3 years of using SR i am definitely seeing patterns of success and failure. The successful folks, like you, say similar things. The relapsed ones have their own similar dialog. For me sobriety is a daily commitment and a feeling of well being and success each morning. Thinking about why i drank is always the same. A lack of education and physical and mental addiction. Suffering through the craves, for every occasion, is now what i call being a grown up. I have out grown booze. Since quitting being a drunk, my energy level and confidence are through the roof. Total life game changer. Thanks to SR. Without this site....i was a deadman walking. Thanks. |
Good to hear from you. Six months was a big turning point for me, so was 8-9 months. Keep going! |
Congrats on your sober time and thanks for the inspiring message. :) |
