What do you love about being sober?
What do you love about being sober?
I'm gonna make a list so if I'm ever feeling down I can look at it. Feel free to add your own!
1. No more hangovers or morning shakiness/nausea.
2. I always remember what I did the night before.
3. No more drunken fights with my boyfriend.
4. WAY less calories (I would consume 1-2 bottles of wine a day.)
5. No more morning guilt.
6. No more texts/posts I regret.
7. Today I have purpose (friends, AA, healthy relationship) and goals, instead of a purposeless existence.
8. I've found a Higher Power.
9. No more obsessing about how I'm going to get alcohol, where, how much I'm going to drink, if others will judge me, etc.
10. No more sneaking around.
11. Clarity of mind.
12. Grateful to be alive.

Pretty much all the points you made apply to me and make me thankful not to drink. I've only managed a week so far though.
Just to know that my life is in my own hands and I will be able to do things in a rational way.
To know that I'll always be in a sober state to take care of my daughter if she ever needs me for anything.

I might add I feel reborn into a new being. I know this sounds odd however when I received an undeniable change in my heart on April 15th, I knew for sure I was done with alcohol. Never turning back because something had changed and I don't even have a clue on how to describe it. It just feels good and I want to help my fellow man find what I have. Not demanding mine you however through my actions and obviously new found love for life. Yes I'm a new being and better than ever. I feel like what ever remaining years I have left will be enjoyed through my true self. I'm so ready!
Brilliant list, brilliant thread. I love these uplifting ones!
I'd add for me, that I am a whole person. No split lives, no presenting one face to the world and having this whole shameful side I couldn't admit to anyone. Living with integrity, I think you'd call it!
