Addiction psychiatrist?

Has anyone used an addiction psychiatrist? Not an IOP setting, strictly a stand alone psychiatrist. If you did was it helpful and what did they do? Im not having any success with IOP thing. Thanks in advance for giving me any feedback on my question.

I tried this. He put me on naltrexone and sent me to a therapist who gave me a Big Book and told me to go to AA.

My shrink is certified in addiction psychiatry. He keeps me on the meds that are working well, and sees me three times a year to evaluate how I'm doing. He's really nice and I have complete faith in him.

ETA: He initially was treating me for depression and anxiety, but I was still seeing him when I started drinking and then later on when I wanted to stop drinking. I didn't go to him because of his addiction certification, but it was handy when I needed that kind of care.
