So a fifth of 100 proof vodka that used to last a week, than 4 days..is now down to 2! I don't want to want it anymore. I see the effects it is having on me and I don't want it to continue. I have stopped caring if bills are late. If I'm late (except to work for now). I'm always tired and I feel old.my stepfather was an alcoholic and I hated him....and now I am too. How do I stop? Went to AA last year and bought some on the way home. Any suggestions?
welcome, mlwhtmn,
all ways of stopping involve stopping.
that sounds and is obvious, but can be a real stumbling block to grasp.
look around here and see what others are having success with and do what they are doing - tons of info all over the place.

Yeah, what fini said.
I had to make the decision to not put alcohol in my own mouth.
It is that simple. After I got through the first few difficult weeks of still wanting a drink all the time, it began to get easier. It's uncomfortable for a short while, but that's okay: it's actually good. It served to instruct me not to go to that place (drinking alcohol) ever again. If I don't drink, I don't go back to Miseryville and I don't have to quit again.

Glad to meet you, mlwhtmn!
It's great that you want to get free. Reading & posting here really helped me with the anxiety I was feeling when I first quit. I knew I never had to feel alone. Welcome!

hi and welcome mlwhtmn
Like the others have said - simple, but not easy.
The support here really helped me tho. I went from beign an all day everyday drinker. Over a decade of recovery now.
It can be done
