Not drinking, but...

When I cut it releases dopamine, just like when I drink. It's addictive. So learning to cope with what is going on in my life is how I manage. Calling someone, going to therapy, joining a group (like aa or other support), exercise, meditation/tapping(Google tapping....it really helps in the moment) are all things that help.

The ER can use an adhesive glue to close up the wounds if it's under 12 hours. This will help reduce Scarring.

Treat this like you would any mental health/ addiction issue.

+1 on the YouTube EFT Tapping thing.

I think we all are self-harmers in one way or another - drinking is certainly self-destructive. Anxiety gets a hold and the familiar (addiction) self-soothing behaviors take over. Tapping is a great Accupressure way to get the same release, and it takes seconds. I do it frequently when I'm out and anxiety hits.

Love you, Snufkins. Come back and talk to us.

I have done this before. For me, it was also a release and the only thing I thought I could control in my life. If you're cuts are deep, you WILL need medical attention. So many things can go wrong from infection to blood loss to others. There is a lot of amazing support here. It sounds like there is more to what you are dealing with than the alcohol addiction. I truly hope you feel the support helps. I know its hardy Snufkin. Chin up, you CAN overcome this.

Hi, Snufkin.

When there is too much pain inside, it seeks every way to break outside.

Try to detach yourself from what others, including your BF may think of you - they are not living your life, you are.

Please, seek medical attention.

Hugs to you.

My daughter was cutting long before she came to us. It took professional help to turn her around. We started at the door step of our local 24/7 mental health crisis clinic..... Snuff, I hope you get the support you need.

Hi, Snuf.

I know you are a creative person.

And creativity often comes with "no skin" because you need to absorb everything that is out in the world and you can't don it with a thick skin.

It's hurts.

Don't judge your pain.

We understand.

Hugs to you.

Hi Snuf. I'm so sorry you're in so much pain. I understand the desperation to do just about anything to relieve mental anguish. I really hope you get help and let us know how you're doing. I've heard dialectical behavior therapy is very good for cutting.

It just occurred to me that Snuf is probably not responding because she may be in the hospital. I hope that's the case and it will lead her on a path to healing.
