My first AA meeting

Hi all. Well I finally did it despite high anxiety I got in my car and just went for it. Walked in and it had already started and the room was full I was about to walk out again as I was overwhelmed when one of the people quietly directed me to the only empty seat left. Wasn't sure what to expect but everyone who talked I related to in some way and at the end most of them introduced themselves and were very supportive and commended me on my bravery for going. I feel the next time I go I would like to talk but have no idea where to start. Just wanna thank everyone on SR if I hadn't been reading daily on this site I would never have even fathomed going to an AA meeting. Am on day 17 now .

The first step is always the hardest, but once you do it, you wonder why you didn't do it sooner Well done!

Good for you brother! The more you go the more you learn and the support your receive is important for a lasting recovery. I have met some really cool people in AA and have hooked up with a sponsor. I'm excited and feeling better than I have in 48 years. I starting drinking in my 20's and I'm 67 now so that's been a long time ago. Heck I feel like a teenager again! Momma better watch out tonight......

Way to go!
It took me many attempts to finally get up the nerve to go in. Best decision I ever made in my life.
Keep going back, you're a miracle in the making

I'm so pleased for you and I'm glad it went well.

I am too nervous to try a group thing yet...

Go to a meeting before it starts for an even better experience.
