lots of stuff there, but the TL;DR is, baby steps, one bite at a time, and a written plan. Sound familiar?

oh, and let go of perfectionism.

I am perfectly tidy and bathrooms always clean but there is ten tons of dust that is always present....I am always behind.....I was going crazy over it until I realised I could choose to not be perfect. I am a brilliant cleaner....just not regular enough. As long as the bed gets changed once a week and the towels and clothes washed....and the bathrooms.....and the 150 000 plants looked after, I let go....it has taken me a while though. I drove Nick nuts with this for ages...he kept telling me it did not need to be like a perfect hotel suite all of the time....well, not the words he used, but that was the meaning.

I am skipping kickboxing, eating cherries, re-watching favorite ufc fights and I am nowhere closer to understanding what in the world I am going to do with my life.

Bim I used to follow Flylady plan some 6 years ago. I don't remember why I stopped it. I suspect the advice to clean the bath tube while showering?

Maybe I can focus on baby steps and letting perfectionism go.

Venus - One of the reasons why I hate cleaning is because my ex bugged me about this all the way. He thought that going to the gym was waste of time and energy which I could use cleaning the apartment instead.

And he never hesitated to tell me about how this or that friend's wife manages to keep the house clean. Blah.

I think somewhere deep inside I still enjoy immensely saying "f**** you" to him when choosing the gym, reading or ufc over the cleaning.

I can't deny any more that I feel miserable most of the time.

Change is a natural thing, and it's definitely time for a change for me.

Different stages of life require different actions.

There are times for tiny gradual steps ahead, there are times for u-turn changes.

Vinny - Honestly I am not doing good at all. I feel as lost as it gets.

Dee - Thank you for asking. And I honestly don't know...

My note to all the weekenders and SR newcomers: what I am dealing with right now is called LIFE.

It is unpredictable, doesn't follow a cookie-cutter happiness formula, doesn't guarantee a certain outcome and is more weird and strange as any possible fiction.

As far as I am sober I am experiencing it, make a choice, ride a roller coaster of emotions and accept my part of this crazy dance with life. When I make another step through fear I get to know a new unknown part of myself.

Sober doesn't necessarily mean Tony Robbins-style all-around positivity or seeing a "grace of god" in everything.

Sober means acknowledging both darkness and light and understanding neither of this is "right" or "wrong".

Above all, it means that I still own my life, no matter how imperfect.
Hugs to you, MB.

Life can throw punches - some mighty big ones, at times. Not fully understanding where we are headed is a big punch in my estimation.

Make those life change decisions with true consideration; they will likely be the right ones.

Lean on your SR friends. I have found them to be very wise, indeed.

hahah. I can relate to giving the finger to an Ex.

That was HIS issue to solve - and you can put, "We broke up," on that gratitude list for today, yeah?

He could have cleaned it if it bothered him so much.

If the bathrooms are clean, the bed is made, and the kitchen counter and stove are clear and clean, I am golden.

The rest can wait for a long time.

Since I am still in (seemingly eternal) process of fixing my apartment (I bought it shell and core) I have no kitchen counter, no stove and I have an inflatable bed.

I think I can get away with just a clean bathroom then

No problem, MB. I am going through some life crises, too. Reading the conversations here is very beneficial. So many very wise people on SR.

Well, I can be sometimes.

But in this case I just had no option but to move in having just bare minimum. And since had gone through some massive financial issues I have to live with what I have.

Ok, I am putting ten minutes timer to clean anything I can do within this timeframe.

Then I will stop.
