Finally ready to do this

Hi all,

Weekend warrior been lurking here for awhile. I am an alcoholic and ready to get sober. Many weekends I am able to drink somewhat responsibly but then lose control and go on a massive bender like this past weekend. I wake up in the morning feeling so crappy the only way to feel better is to drink more. I woke up this morning and promised myself I would not drink today. I'm making it through the day. Hydrating like crazy. Feeling pretty exhausted but confident I will make it through today.
Anyways, just wanted to say hi. This is a really great site.

This is a good site to find support and share. No judgment.

Morning drinking to medicate a bender usually indicated that I have lost most care for everything. One month ago I was basically on the verge of extreme alcoholism where all I wanted was to drink all day every day. I would get things done quickly just to get back to drinking.

Id take it as a sign to a serious problem if you have nothing better to do the to drink on your morning weekends.

Making it through. Just getting some much needed sleep after being up all night with the anxiety last night and working all day. Thanks for asking

Doing ok. Just getting some much needed sleep after not getting any last night. Feeling really tired but the wind is blowing pretty hard tonight in Vegas and not helping lol. I know I'm not going to drink tonight or tomorrow but worried about in a few days when I get over the guilt and depression period. Looking over the site is helping to plan my attack but unfortunately with no sleep last night my brain is a bit useless today. A good night's rest tonight and get back it tomorrow

You are going to love not feeling sick and tired all the dang time! I remember my very early drinking days when I thought drinking in the morning was weird. A few years later itd just be a beer before noon or so to take the edge off. Then one day bam, I was chugging whiskey first thing. If i didn't, I'd be severely ill in bed all day. So glad I don't have to life that life anymore. My body feels so much better. A few months ago, 90 days felt absolutely impossible. Tomorrow I'll have proven to myself that it's not, in fact anything in the world is possible if I just put down the dang bottle. Good luck on your journey, friend!

Working on day 6 here. Feeling a lot better. I bought some books I would like to read on tablet but my head just aches every day and cant seem to focus. Keep plowing away on sleep, hydration and exercise.

Hey Bernie. Congratulations on your monumental decision to get sober and for making it this far. It gets easier and it gets better. So much better. This board is fantastic and the people are so great and nonjudgmental. Use this as your crutch to help get you through. Even if it's a crutch you could do so much worse. It's an awesome place to just type away and vent or express whatever's on your mind. It's so powerful to just get that stuff out of your head. And it does wonders for your strength to stay sober.

Welcome.
