It's so worth it 👍💚

Yea I'm 5 MONTHS sober today ..
For everyone struggling it really does get easier...
Instead of saying I can't do this or that without a drink ..
I'm turning it around and saying wouldn't it be so great to do this or that sober
It's a wonderful experience
Last night I had a txt message about my brother who never turned up at an event
(He suffers from chronic depression)
I could grab my car keys at midnight and my eldest daughter and drive to his,
ten miles away to make sure he was ok
(He was ..) I could NEVER have done that 6 months ago
Every day brings a new challenge
But every day is only one day
Should it be a wedding..a night out ..a special event ...it's only a day
If I can do this so can you ..
Love to all for a lovely Sunday
Enjoy the sunshine
Cara ❤❤💚

Sobriety is more rewarding than drinking ever was.

Congrats C. I'm looking forward to getting there. Being ready wrong and able for ourselves and family was just another thing sacrificed to alcohol. Want to have that back for the first time. Thanks and congratulations.

Congrats! I also would never be able to drive late night when I drank. Which is a scary thought, since I have two young kids that might need something.

Keep up the good work!

Congrat Caralara! And thank you for your words of encouragement. I often wonder if I'll be one of the unlucky ones to have strong cravings for 6,9 or even 12 months.
You are so right - everything is much richer and rewarding sober

Great post! Yea being able to drive later in the day is so cool. No worries just hop in the car and do your thing. The point you made about being able to help family during any time of the day is so important. Life get's better and better without alcohol. You all have a great Sunday and Memorial day tomorrow!

Caralara144 writes>>>For everyone struggling it really does get easier...<<<

It states from the founders of the text Alcoholics Anonymous on page 58 HOW IT WORKS, "Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path". "Rarely" means that some fail...

I know you mean well, and congratulations on 5 months, but where you’re at in your stage of recovery, for me at that stage it didn’t get easier and it doesn’t get easier for some others, with some, it can take years. Therefore, I attempt to practice what it suggests in carrying my message in helping others in chapter 7 of the AA text, “WORKING WITH OTHERS” by sharing ONLY what works for me, realizing that some others have emotional / mental differences, e.g. Bipolar Affective Disorder of many types, OCD, PTSD, as well as poly-addiction, e.g. eating disorders, non-substance addiction i.e. gambling and the list goes on.

I don't cookie cut recovery, for these and other reasons. I hope this helps!
