thank you for sharing some insights how it feels before and after. i never thought how alcohol not only damages your health and social life but generally limits your opportunities.. and I'm really glad for you

It's a wonderful experience
Last night I had a txt message about my brother who never turned up at an event
(He suffers from chronic depression)
I could grab my car keys at midnight and my eldest daughter and drive to his,
ten miles away to make sure he was ok
(He was ..) I could NEVER have done that 6 months ago
Every day brings a new challenge
But every day is only one day
Should it be a wedding..a night out ..a special event ...it's only a day
If I can do this so can you ..
Love to all for a lovely Sunday
Enjoy the sunshine

Your post is very inspiring. I'm on here because my boyfriend of almost six years is an alcoholic. He won't seek treatment and even tells me he's Not drunk when he is drunk. I hope he can find his higher power someday soon.

Even when the medical system told me (and my wife) I was an alcoholic, I denied it completely. I think for the most part, we have to find our own way.

I agree Bullwinkle. I don't think there is a cookie cutter recovery either. We all bring so many differences to the recovery table. But we also share so many similarities, which makes AA and this forum so successful. There's a good chance that what works for the majority will also work for us.
