Day 7 and

Im so grateful I didn't have to or want to drink today. Just wish i had energy...I feel like a worn out dish cloth. Is this because im 55 or is it really from all that drinking. Can a 55 year old woman regain energy at some point in sobriety? Or is it normal to be tired and not be able to do a lot of physical stuff?

I think it's normal for people of all ages to be tired and run down! Our bodies are repairing themselves. Treat them well and they will treat us well.

It took me about 3 months to feel ebergised again. I think we can really underestimnate the damage we inflict on ourselves as drinking as we did.

The human body and mind are resilient tho - hope you feel better soon

It sure was normal for me! Longer than 55 days- I was very sick when I quit.

It's tough to be patient because we want to be better faster - I had to remind myself that I had seriously abused my body for years so a few months wasn't enough "undo" all that....and keep sober and keep doing healthy things.

Best to you for your continued sobriety.

PS I also had to NOT put pressure on myself to do things it seemed everyone could do, a lot faster than me (exercise, for example).

Ty all. I love SR...reading, posting and taking in everyone's experiences both good, bad and neutral is immensely helping me to stay sober. I appreciate and thank God for you all.
