An Alcoholic's "Self"
An Alcoholic's "Self"
Self!
Alcohol erodes the “self” and, given enough time, nearly destroys it. Some religions encourage meditation to focus on the “self”, gradually diminishing it so that suffering is gradually reduced or even eliminated. Yin and Yang. Darkness and Light.
But I try not to focus on such things. Sobriety causes one to turn outward, away from the “lonely illness”, to focus on others, helping them help themselves. Sharing sunlight and shadow.
Today there is brilliant sunshine. The sky dark blue. The trees and flowers leafing out. A great triumphant shout of Spring!
