Need help

Drunk myself to oblivion last night, woke up fully dressed, ashamed and embarrassed. So much to lose but slipping so fast, constantly thinking about drink. Realise now I need to quit for good but don’t know where to start.

Welcome back Mark

Well, it all starts with a day one. See your doctor if you're worried about withdrawal, but committing to a day sober is pretty much the fundamental step.

I looked back at your posts to refresh my memory. I see you've had various stretches of sobriety but nothing really permanent - maybe thats a good focus to have this time - how can you leave drinking behind for good?

Read around - see what others are doing - find a way that makes sense to you and do it.

Give it all you've got

D

Glad you found your way back Mark.

Well. There's plenty of help available, but it can be hard to accept it at first sometimes. Well, it was for me.

This place has been huge in my recovery, as has AA. Perhaps you could check out when and where your local meetings are held and consider giving that a chance as well. https://www.alcoholics-anonymous.org.uk

Wishing you all the best for your sobriety and recovery.

Hi Mark,

You've started by coming back here and posting and that's a good idea. Making a plan for how to get through each day could be helpful. And, think about changes you could make in your lifestyle that would help support your recovery.
